The Clown
A lot of people are afraid of clowns. That phobia is called Coulrophobia. This sad looking clown is called Max. He is an institution in Sweden and has made more than 5000 shows over the years. I met him earlier today when he was preparing for a show at the Berga Agricultural College. A little later I could hear the kids screaming, so either he was a big hit, or very scary...

Wow. I have trouble putting myself back into a child's brain where I think I might enjoy the presence of this clown. He looks so sad!
He doesn't look much like a clown. Like your portrait!
il fait penser a un clown de chez buffet, un clown triste
I have never enjoyed clowns or found them funny. As a child their strange behaviour just perplexed and worried me. But Max looks a nice man despite being a clown!
Excellent portrait! Clowns don't bother me, but I can see how they might be scary to some people.
I love your blog, especially all the portraits.
Why do clowns always look so sad when they're not performing? I guess it's not easy, physically or emotionally.
I don't mind real people clowns. It's clown dolls that scare me because of Chucky.
I actually asked Max to look a bit sad and he gladly (pun intended), followed my advice.
Klovne fandt jeg OK som barn, dog var jeg ikke pjattet med den hvide klovn, og det holder endnu :) Han er oftest bevidst ondskabsfuld :(
Hav en dejlig uge!
this clown doesnt look scary, but i saw one at the zombie march in boston, and he scared me a lot! (http://cat-pictureday.blogspot.com/2011/05/zombie-march.html)
Hi Steffe, my daughter would have definitely been one of the 'terrified' screamers...and she's 27 haha!!
