Blooming Chestnut Tree
I have shown you this before and here it is again. This is my grandfather Harald Fredrik Jansson's tree. It's a Common Horse-chestnut. He planted it on his twentieth birthday back in 1922. I take a photo here every now and then. Bigger photo. Or the slideshow.

It is good that you take the photo of your grandfather's horse chesnut tree. We no longer have chesnut trees in this country. They were once the king of handsome trees here but were killed off by pests brought into this country. Nice picture.
We still have some beautiful chestnut trees in Cambridge, Massachusetts -- in fact, on Brattle Street, where Longfellow once lived. He wrote the poem, 'Under the spreading chestnut tree
the village smithy stands ...'
There are plenty of beautiful chestnut trees in Brooklyn Heights. There are cardinals and finches in them now. Sorry Abe.
