Radhus
This was the scene at Slätmossen in Handen yesterday. A thin layer of snow on the ground. The cold weather has returned and with it some new snow. Swedish word of the day. Radhus. Row houses.

That Old Tree
The old tree just after sunset yesterday afternoon. The day started with sunshine and a blue sky. Then came the rain,(see the rainbow snap from yesterdays post). When the rain stopped I was sitting at the cafe, and as it started to get dark I pedalled for home and this was the only pit stop.

Minimalistic Architecture
The Najaden building dates back to the early 1980s. It was a horrible looking building at the Rudsjöterrassen in Handen, overlooking the lakes at the Rudan nature reserve. It's an office building with a hotel, gym, and much more. It got a new owner a while back, and is currently undergoing a major facelift. Most of it behind curtains so to speak but a little over a week ago they removed some of those curtains and out came a very sleek and minimalistic design. If you are strong enough, Press here to see the old design. They are not finished yet but I will take more photos in the coming months.

That Old Tree
What a difference a week can do. It was just a few days ago that I showed you a photo with the old tree surrounded by deep snow. Well, since then it has been much warmer and most of the snow in Haninge is already gone. This was the scene at the tree yesterday.

Who wants to go skinny dipping?
Don't you just want to run out onto the pier and jump into the lake for a refreshing swim? Of course you do. Go for it!

Wintertime
This is one of the places that I will always take another photo of. It is a house at Mulsta in Tungelsta. It has an interesting story. For a few centuries this was the house where the local Vassal lived. This version of the "Länsmansboställe" dates back to 1893, a previous building was destroyed in a fire. I have showed it you before and even told you about a murder that the policeman that lived here back in 1853 solved.

Minimalist Winter
Two Winter photos with a difference. I decided to try and shoot a few abstract and minimalistic photos on a recent photo promenade around Tungelsta. I took these photos at the commuter station. It is a busy building site at the moment so there's lots to look at. At least if you are a photographer.

That Old Tree
You probably knew that I would visit the old tree after that heavy snowfall didn't you? It was a good workout as I had to wade in deep snow to get there. Halfway down the path I met a couple walking in the other direction so from there I could walk in their footsteps. That made it a little easier for me, which I thanked them for.

A Monochrome Winter
On a recent Winter promenade around Tungelsta I spotted a lone bike parked at the Krigslida commuter platform. The bike parking is fairly new and I thought it would make for a good photo with the snow hanging down like this. After taking a few photos I decided to have a closer look on the bike emblem/ornament. I don't have anything like that on any of my bikes so I am a little jealous now! First photo taken with the old Canon 550 with the 85mm lens. Second detailed photo shot with my Canon 6D, which I got back from Canon service&repair a few days ago. I shot the King photo with the nifty fifty lens.

A memorable Day
The snowiest day for over a century. That sounds like fun doesn't it? That's what we had around Stockholm yesterday. People will remember this day for a very long time, although they probably want to forget all about it. We got around 40 centimetre of snow which was 40cm too much for everyone. I have read countless reports about people being stuck out on the roads for ten hours, schools had to close early as the bus service was cancelled. Trucks without Winter tires blocking roads everywhere, people skiing on the streets in the capitol, the stories just keeps coming. So to calm everyone down a bit here is the sunset from yesterday afternoon. You can see this photo and more snow related snaps at SvD.

A Winter Workout
Mateusz Tuszynski who works at Blomorado in Tungelsta keeping himself warm with the help of the snow blower. Heavy snowfall overnight so this is probably the best workout routine of the day if you have to be outdoors. Chaos everywhere today. Traffic at a standstill around Stockholm. Everyone completely surprised by the winter weather. More info in English at The Local.

Train Station in Winter
-3C when I took this snap of the commuter station in Tungelsta earlier today. Still a lot of work until that second rail-track will be operational. A rail-road switch malfunctioned in Stockholm yesterday morning. My brothers commute home last evening took two hours. He was not amused, but then again he flew to Athens this morning and will work from there for a week. No snow problem there I think.

I hear you
Noticed this car at Dekra the other day. A vehicle inspection site in Handen. And after reading those words I decided to check out some facts about this Volvo and it turns out that it shouldn't be out on the roads so I guess that makes the statement more understandable.

Location, location, location
For many years there was a filling station here at the intersection between Nynäsvägen and Dalarövägen in Handen. It was called Nynäs Bensinstation. The family that owned the station lived in a little green house that is still there today, (a bit to the right). This building is newer, but it will soon be history. The last business here was Gilberts Lastbilsservice, a truck service company. This property and the one behind it, Handens Museum, is very valuable to the municipality and it won't be long now before they build something here. The apartment building to the left is part of Haninge Park.

Migratory Birds
On my way to the old tree yesterday I stopped at a field belonging to the Nödesta farm to photograph these migratory birds. They have been there for a couple of days now. Looks like Whopper Swans and Canada Goose. Probably heading for the Netherlands or even Spain.

Owl
Out of focus. Theme day. I have been trying all year to get a photo of the owls that live near the old tree. This is the "best" photo so far.
