The Bike Rack

An over-snowed and unused bike rack at the commuter station in Tungelsta. In the background a building that today houses a pizzeria, an art store/gallery and a tattoo parlor. When I was a kid back in the 1970s it was a popular cafe where I often hanged with my friends, spending my allowance on the pinball machines while drinking soft drinks. It was also the local post office until all the post offices in Sweden were closed, and also the headquarters for the local political party Socialdemokraterna. Back then the building was painted gray. Today it has a new owner, the construction company Turbinen that are busy building row-houses and a new school on the other side of the railway station.

A Monochrome Winter

On a recent Winter promenade around Tungelsta I spotted a lone bike parked at the Krigslida commuter platform. The bike parking is fairly new and I thought it would make for a good photo with the snow hanging down like this. After taking a few photos I decided to have a closer look on the bike emblem/ornament. I don't have anything like that on any of my bikes so I am a little jealous now! First photo taken with the old Canon 550 with the 85mm lens. Second detailed photo shot with my Canon 6D, which I got back from Canon service&repair a few days ago. I shot the King photo with the nifty fifty lens.

Bike rack at a commuter station. Shot with the pancake lens. Nice DOF as they say, you can't even spot the Steel Horse that I parked at the other end of the rack.

Where are the bikes?

I'm sure there was a meeting. And during that meeting it was decided that this area at Ramsdalsvägen needed a bike rack. Could have been a photographer that came up with the idea. Because it's a photogenic bike rack and that is of course important. But I have never seen anyone use it. It's been there for at least a year.

Nice rack

Nice rack. One of my favorite phrases. Very useful sometimes. And it works fine here as there are several brand new bike shelters at two of the commuter stations in Haninge. You can find this one at Krigslida. Both photos shot with the pancake lens.

Autumn Bike Rack

I was looking to take some new photos of the Bovieran that I showed you a while back but there was nothing new to report so I walked over the schoolyard at Ribby in Västerhaninge and found this unused bike rack.

Every picture has a story.

There's always a story behind every photograph. I was meeting a friend at Poseidon's Square in Handen at noon today. I arrived on the Steel Horse fifteen minutes early, so after parking the bike I looked around for something, or someone to photograph. There was nothing that caught my eye on the square so I walked up the stairs, and there it was. Against a cement wall. A bike rack. Circle after circle. Made of steel. So I hunched down and started shooting with the 85mm lens and this was the result.
