The Plank II

I wonder what the Stockholm Beauty Council would say about this. This fence barrier can be found at Sjögläntan, part of a new housing area at Parkstråket in Handen. I first photographed it in early January which at least one of my readers noticed. If you happen to live on the first floor at the new apartment building this is your new view. Oh, and they wouldn't say anything because this is in Haninge and I don't think we have a beauty council here. Anyway without the fence barrier here you would see a lawn, a walkway and another, (temporary), housing area.

Gärdesgård

Nylända gård near Årsta castle in Österhaninge. This type of fence is known as a gärdesgård.

Winter Fence

Earlier in December we had three days when everything was white after the first snow fall of the season. It was cold enough for the snow to stay wherever it landed, and on two of those three days I took a Winter promenade with my camera. Since then we have seen a few really cold days (-6C), and a couple of warmer days. And now ten days later we still have snow, but it is not as picturesque as my recent photos have shown.

Bullerskärm

Bullerskärm. Swedish word of the day. Noise barrier fence along the Nynäsbanan railway line at Håga in Västehaninge. In the background a new building at the industrial park.

Behind the fence

A fence at the Tungelsta commuter station, running along the Nynäsbanan tracks. In the background an empty field at Lillgården that will be gone soon and behind that the newish retirement home run by Attendo.

Svin-Kalles Affär

The pub, (and pizza place), in Tungelsta. Today called Vaskos. The first owner of the house was Svante Vitus Carlsson, locally known as Svin-Kalle. It is said that the big building that was a convenient store for many years was moved to it's current location near the commuter station from the village of Fors, a few kilometres away, a little over a century ago. Local historians have tried unsuccessfully so far to find any real evidence of the move. The reason for the possible move was the new railway line Nynäsbanan that opened for traffic here back in 1901.

Frosty Fence

Cold and frosty today. And extremely foggy. You could hardly see anything, but I did manage to get a few photos, despite my fingers freezing to ice within seconds as I had to take off my gloves to get the camera working. This is a fence on the bridge crossing the railway at the Tungelsta commuter station.

One Suicide Is Too Many

They are changing the fence along the Nynäsbanan railway line after one too many suicides. I took these two photos between the Krigslida and the Västerhaninge stations. After removing the old fence they put this one up and went home. I should of course have waited a few minutes and taken the photo as the commuter passed by, but there's always tomorrow. I hope no one decides to use this new "shortcut" over the weekend.

Fence Posts

Sometimes when I don't know what to photograph I end up at the old tree, which is of course very photogenic. But I don't always photograph it, instead I will walk around the fields and hill and aim the camera elsewhere. Many years ago there was a house near the tree, all that is left today is a cellar and a few fence posts, two of which you can see here. Both photos shot with the 6D using the nifty fifty lens.

The Red Fence

Fences can be ugly. And often completely unnecessary. But most of the time they are photogenic. This is a wooden fence at the Fredrika Bremer secondary school in Handen. A bit different.

Fenced in tower

Another look a the redesigned water towers in Handen. No one ever noticed them before, but now they are hard to miss. I try to shoot them from different angles whenever I can. Shot this one from the nearby secondary school, Fredrika Gremer-gymnasiet.

Fence & Rooster

No real inspiration for photography at the moment. And I do of course blame the weather for that. One day it's 7C and a blueish sky. The next it's freezing and snowing again. Yesterday was an in-between day so I took the bike to the Tyresta national park. This is a fence called Hankgärdesgård, this type of roundpole fence dates back to the Viking era a Millennium ago. It's a few photos stitched together, shot with the nifty fifty to get that shallow depth of field. The buildings in the background belong to the old village. They are a few centuries old, there's a working farm there and that's where I met the rooster.

Pain Barrier

Found this pain barrier on a recent winter promenade. It didn't stop me from shooting and it was a pain free experience, not considering the snow fall.

Barbed Wire

A barbed wire fence in front of the Coca-Cola plant in Jordbro. Not sure about the barbed wire as anyone can walk freely on either side of the fence, but thanks anyway as it gave me another photo opportunity.

Three Years In A Row

The bike path between Västerhaninge and Jordbro runs parallel with the industrial park. If I turn my head to the left when I am heading towards Handen I can see a few boring fences. But there's a photo here as well. And for the last three years I have stopped to take a spring photo of this rusty fence with the yellow Tussilago behind it. And here's the proof.

The Secret Society

Surely this is a sign that discretely says that a secret society houses in the building behind the fence. Must be some organisation like the Illuminati. I am yet to figure out the meaning behind the idea of leaving that last barrel standing next to the unfinished pyramid.

Three recent photos
