Transjön

My hike through the forest took me to a little lake called Transjön, near Hemfosa. The Spring sunshine at the lake warmed me up a bit after the walk. A thin layer of ice still covered the lake. Had I wanted to I could have spent the night in the wind shelter but I will leave that to the real hikers that often use this trail.

Icy Wetland

On my short hike to Lake Transjön earlier in the week I walked past this icy wetland.

I See You

From a distance I noticed a moose family, so I jumped off my bike and tried to walk a little closer without scaring away the wildlife, as they were enjoying some grass on a field. They obviously knew that I was coming so when I came around the bend they were already at a safe distance at the edge of the forest.

Black and white in color

Theme Day. Black and White in color. Decided to go with an archival photo for this one. This is a birch forest at Välsta. I often walk here and I am very good at scaring away the local wildlife when I do.

The White Forest

It is a bit chilly as I'm typing this. -20C outside at the moment. It was a few degrees warmer yesterday when i took this photo while trekking through deep snow in a forest at Välsta in Tungelsta.

Into the forest we go

I took the bike down to the tiny hamlet that is Ormsta yesterday. The road will only take you that far, and if you want to continue on the very old dirt road you will have to do so either on foot, horse, or bicycle, and I'm pretty sure you know how I get around. Halfway down the dirt road I jumped off the bike and went for a walk in the forest that you can see on the second photo. The first photo shows the pattern I found on a birch tree where someone or something had peeled away the bark.

Winter Leaf

I found some snow on Friday. In a forest at Stav in Tungelsta. Up on a hill. I followed the deer tracks hoping to see some wildlife but they were long gone. So I had to make do with what I could find and that was this leaf.

Winter Birch Trees

From a recent walk in a birch forest at Välsta in Tungelsta. We got some more snow over night, might be time to find that old snow shovel.

The Winter Portal

I'm not sure exactly how the Winter Portal works. Maybe if you walk through it Winter stays for another three months? Not wanting to risk that I walked around it.

Autumn Forest

I took a walk in a forest at Välsta in Tungelsta yesterday. Before the rain. Autumn colors all around. The fence to the right is because of the horses that you would normally find here.

Another grey day

No sign of the sun lately. Everything is grey and dark. This is a little birch forest in Handen next to the Slätmossen nature park, you don't see too many people here, just the odd dog owner and nutty photographer.

November

This is November to me. Grey. Cold. Wet. You are looking at the pet cemetery at Håga in Västerhaninge seen from the pedestrian bridge.

In the Spider's Web

I was out walking in the birch forest at Välsta earlier this week. It is a nice place for a stroll. No one around but me and this spider.

Lost in the Woods

This was a pleasant surprise. I visited Småhamra the other day. It's where they found that runestone last year,and I will tell you some updated news about that in a day or three. Anyway,from Småhamra you can take a short-cut through the forest to get to the little village at the Tyresta national park, and that's what I did. I was on the bike and the path is mostly for horses, but you can manage on a bike. Half way through the forest I took a wrong turn. I realised my mistake when the path ended. And this is where it ended. At a little tarn. And next to it a little cabin. I guess it is something belonging to the national park, but I'm not sure. What I do know is that I was very tired when I arrived here, but sitting down by the water for a few minutes, enjoying the silence and the view made all the difference. Skywatch Friday.

In the Birch Forest

Thanks to the law Allemansrätten I can walk on anyone's property in Sweden. So earlier this week I took a promenade through this birch forest, situated between Mulsta and Välsta in Tungelsta. I spotted woodpeckers and owls, but as I didn't have the zoom lens with me I can only show you the now very green forest.

The Birdhouse

A birdhouse (fågelholk), at the birch forest at Håga. This forest is also known as the pet cemetery.

The Hunting Blind

I headed for the forest today. It was cold and frosty but at least there was a blue sky. I was hoping to catch some of the local wildlife. That didn't happen. So I stopped and took a photo of this hunting blind. There are quite a few hunting blinds in this forest. Normally the hunters are looking to shoot roe deer or elk. No hunter around on this occasion, but I did meet one elk hunter earlier in the year.

What you can find in a forest

I took a promenade in a forest. At Stav. An area with trees, trees, and more trees. And also a few old farms and a newly built area called Stavshöjden where a lot of horse lovers have moved in. I was hoping to find some wild animals, like Moose or Deer. Or maybe a few birds or fungus. Must have been the wrong day for that. All I could find was this. I don't know what it is, but one word came to me as I moved in a little closer. Moonshine?

New Apartment Buildings

As I have shown you before, Haninge is growing. Bigger photo. Here is the latest building site. From Åby in Västerhaninge, where I lived for a few years back in the eighties. Three new buildings with a total of 59 apartments are being constructed here by Akelius. In this photo the builders are using a lift to get the material up to the fourth floor.
