Ice Patterns

Ice
Winter is here. The temperature dropped to freezing yesterday. I was prepared for that but it was a very cold bike ride. It felt more like -10C, probably because it was grey and windy. I stopped at the nature park and ice had formed on one of the ponds. As I'm typing this it is a few degrees below zero but at least the sun is shining from a blue sky.

Fascinating pattern of crystals. They remind me of quartz. Beautifully, captured as usual!

Super shot, Steffe! I don't want to see such a thing yet though.

I wonder what creates the patterns - are there sticks floating in the water? As I write this Saturday evening we look forward to our first hard frost overnight, -5.5 but probably too much wind to create a glaze.

Great patterns in the ice... rather artistic!

That's an amazing sight to me Steffe, not something I will ever see in Perth :) Bit of a shame, I'd like to!
