Winter Wildlife

Winter Wildlife It's tough for the wildlife at the moment. They have trouble finding enough food to survive the winter. The first thing I saw yesterday morning was this roe deer. It was on the hill at home, standing in the deep snow looking for something to eat. Normally they will run away when you spot them, but I think it was too hungry for that. A little later in the day my brother took some photos of them as they were on the veranda looking in to the living room. When they come so close that means that they are desperate for anything to eat so I cut up some parrots carrots and left on the veranda. Will buy some apples and pears for them later today.

Good man! Swedish deer eat parrots? ;-))

Yes - you were kind enough to correct my typing recently. Do Swedish deer prefer tropical birds or crunchy vegetables? Some snow here in the New York area today but nothing like what you've had.

That's what my Mum used to do when she was a child in the extreme north of Germany... Lovely shot.

Ha ha I stand corrected. Not sure if they would enjoy a parrot, and you are probably correct thinking that a carrot would work better!

Such a sad shot! Re RedPat's comment: Swedish deer will eat anything in the winter time.

I am not sure I could ever be peckish enough to tuck into a parrot. But people forget that for wildlife heavy snow is worse than a mild inconvenience. Well done Stefan.

Hehe, the parrot carrot is fun. I'd feed the deer too, who could resist those softly pleading eyes?
