The Winter Chair (and a bonus mosaic)

The Winter Chair

The long and cold winter continues. In my latest photo project I return every now and then to a chair that stands on a lawn near a swimming pool in Tungelsta. This is my fourth visit this winter.

The Olympic Champion

And continuing on my new series with Swedish Gold Medal winners from the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, this is Björn Ferry. His win yesterday in the Men's 12.5 km pursuit will go down in the history books as one of the biggest surprises ever. I can guarantee that it will win him this years Bragdguld. Ferry started the race in eight place, more than one minute behind the winner from the sprint competition. The Austrian Christoph Sumann took silver and Frenchman Vincent Jay won the bronze medal.

Okay, the chair is a work of art! Could hang in a museum.

The second shot is stunning...how do you do that...is there some kind of template? Are you such an artist you can do that yourself?

We're almost to the point of saying "What chair"?
I used to have software that would create these mosaics. It was called "Photo-Montage" I believe. It was fun to use.

The chair could disappear in a few days time as we are expecting more snow come the weekend.

There are many software that can do these types of mosaics. I use photomosaic that is no longer on the market. But I have a working copy that I could email anyone interested.

Another program I have used is Andreamosaic which is freeware.

I follow the chairs' fate very attentively. It is a symbol of all us, poor fellows, with winters lasting for half year and snows the size of the mountains :-)

I'm just going to echo Jacob and Irina. I love this chair series and feel wonder at the mosaics.

The next time you visit that chair, you may not be able to find it! You will also have to go back in the summer and show us what it looks like.

Poor little chair. Will it still be there once spring comes?

Next time you'll need GPS coordinates to find the chair under the snow...

Great shots, love the chair.

That snow looks like a giant dollop of whipped cream on top of the chair!

Good thing that I always geotag my flickr photos then!
