Winter Avenue

Allévägen

The cold winter isn't giving up, but there has been two days now with a blue sky (at least for a few hours, and every minute counts). This is Allévägen at Hammar in Tungelsta. I can normally be seen here almost every day of the year on my bike, but not this winter. It's been way too icy. I don't mind biking in cold weather, it's just a matter of dressing correctly, but the roads are to slippery and the side-walks and bike paths haven't been cleared from all the snow so my bike has been in the cellar since Lucia. Oh, and if you want to see how this road will look in a few months time, check out this post from May 2009.

Skywatch Friday.

The scene is still very beautiful. I live in a state that has no snow, so I enjoy seeing winter weather.

quite beautiful, the way the branches of the trees form a lattice against the sky.

It looks like the best way to have a winter day but I wouldn't ride my bike down it. Not for a couple of more months.

I'm so glad you posted the spring photo of the same lane. Proof that winter is part of a cycle and the sun will return.

I like the comparision between season, they are both nice in their own way, but I wish you a quick transition to a milder spring season.

Glad you are choosing to stay safe, Steffe. So, do you ski places, or just walk carefully :-). Hope you continue to have some great blue skies like this.

It looks very beautiful -- actually, a lot like where I live.

So many places have deep snow right now. We have only rain. That's OK with me, but it's lovely to see your photo with the contrast of blue and white, and the beckoning road!

I would kill myself riding a bike in those conditions.

There comes a time in the life of every biker when it is the better part of valor to leave the bike in the basement!

You're a smart guy, Steffe.

May is coming soon, though!

Looking at this I don't blame you for parking the bike for a while. Soon enough the snow will leave and then you can fly down this road.

Well composed: clear sky, simple colours, and the sign for contrast. Excellent.

Thanks all. It's a picturesque road so I will often stop for a photo here.

I hear you James. If you need some snow Tara I'm willing to sent you some!

Glad to trigger that memory PurestGreen.

I walk very carefully Kim.

Sorry to hear that Gunn.

It's warmer now and some of the snow is melting away, but there's more cold weather to come which means that the roads will be even more icier.
