When nature takes over

Abandoned Greenhouse

Obviously the first thing you do when you see a sign that says Private Property is to get the camera ready and prepare for a photo shoot, so that's what I did a while back while out walking. This is one of Tungelsta's abandoned greenhouse nurseries. The business was owned by the Artvin family. They used to be called Andersson, but I guess they wanted something unique. For many years now the place has been slowly decaying, but the keep out sign was brand new so I'm probably not the only one in the neighbourhood that enjoy these types of places! I have made a flickr set in case you are interested so just press the arrow and enjoy the show!

I love these kinds of places...we have bunches in Florida and the pace of deterioration is amazing...with the heat and rain, a building can be covered up and disappear in a couple of months!

They do make for great photos, though.

Why is Mark so private? Doesn't he want to have friends?

I, too, love these places, in all their different degrees of usability from the beautiful glasshouses like the ones at Kew to the derelict ones like this.

I think we have something in common Steffe. If I see a sign that says "keep out", I want in and I want to take my camera. Old abandoned buildings are another favorite. I just have to go look and photograph.
I like the flickr slideshows you add now and then. I'm going to have to consider giving flickr a try one of these days.
Another great post full of great photos.

Its funny I posted about my curiosity about places just yesterday, having access to the derelict Temple Works mill here in Leeds

I guess having your camera gives you just the excuse you need to explore.

It is neat to see nature take over.

At least you don't have the kudzu!!

A wonderful slideshow. You sure captured the place beautifully.

It is interesting how Nature takes the space back and in time you would never know it was there.

There's a lot of nice things you can do by using flickr. So you should give it a try. No kudzu but there's a lot of Cow-Parsley here and there.

The slide show is great. I'm looking at it at work and believe me, It's making me really want to step into your photographs.

Not many of these place in town and often they are already 'taken' by some not very friendly people... Here it could be very dangerous to intrude!

Not that dangerous. And if you jump over a ditch and head into the oak forest here there's another abandoned place to check out. Maybe I will show you that place tomorrow, stay tuned!
