Moo!

Moo!

There's something special about cows. And as I live in an area with quite a few farms, I do see a lot of cattle on my journeys around Haninge. And as with many other things I have to stop for a closer look and some photos especially as these cows are very photogenic. The top photo was taken near Alvsta on a recent bike ride with my friend Jim. This is Scottish Highland cattle, also known as Kyloe. Just after I took this shot Jim was on his way into the pasture to check out a standing stone, but as that got the attention of the herd, he was quickly back on the other side of the fence!

Moo!

I shot the second photo close to Stadsberga, but it is actually from the same pasture, and the cattle all belong to the nearby Årsta Säteri. This was from a bike ride just two days ago with Henrietta, a birdwatcher I have met a few times. We stopped at a few interesting places and I will show some photos from our trip in a day or three.

If I knew where to look I have a couple of shots of the highland cattle in Scotland, they are impressive beasts. Nice 'portrait'.

I really like these highland cattle, nice pics Steffe. There are some not far from me but I have yet to find them with my camera.

So nice of them to pose for you. The first one seems to be flirting with you, but the second seems to be saying, "stay away from my girl."

I wouldn't want to tangle with them - their horns are too big!

They look like they belong in Texas.

These are two fine shots and that's no bull.

What a fabulous shot! Absolutely arresting. Such a beautiful animal. Your portraits - people and animals - are always SO good. Love both of these but the first has the edge with that look around the tree.

I was trying to remember the last time I saw a real cow, after going back more than a decade I gave up...
Your first photo is a true portrait, where the 'hair' is everything: Olivier is right seeing something hippie here...

I have never seen such shaggy fur on cows before! They are quite beautiful, but that first one looks not too happy about having his picture taken.

There's a very good reason why the bull on the top photo looks a bit angry. He was hoping to have some fun with one of the cows when we arrived. So that's why he gave us the evil eye here, trying to scare us away!

That's funny Steffe. That is not the look of a frisky bull. Beautiful animals though. Very nice shots.

From the thumbnail I thought you were on holiday on the other side of the North Sea! They are gorgeous!

"I'm not happy" should be in a bubble above the cow's head. Funny!

Look like the steppes cows from Northern Moldova...

That mop of hair gives them a lot of personality. If they'd stand for it, we could have some fun with a brush and some hairspray!

MaCoBra I could show the old tree any day. Since I last posted a photo here in June I have probably been back there four or five times. The only problem is that I am so picky. I want something else in the shot, like someone jogging or out horse-back riding, and the last few times no one has been around, but I will see what I can do!

Awe! So cute. Cows are like little aliens.
