Icons of American culture

Icons of American culture
Gas Guzzler
The Swedish subculture "Raggare" or Greasers (Rockabilly rednecks), have adopted a few American icons. Like the cars from the 1950s and 1960s, the music of Elvis Presley, and for some reason the sometimes controversial Confederate flag. Some more info about Raggare in English here. This 1964 Impala belongs to a member of moonshine cruisers, the leading club for the Stockholm raggare.

Cool- I like the battered condition of the front of the car- rather symbolic?

It has seen better days.

The first car I drove was a 1963 Chevy Impala, our family car at the time. We never, ever owned nor would we ever display a Confederate flag. Your description of it as controversial is accurate.

The huge furry dice are often seen in cars driven by young girls in the UK..................

Looks like Smokey And The Bandit, fallen on hard times.

Do you mean to say these are still drivable Steffe!! Looks like they might fall to pieces if the engine was started.

The old Chevy is cool. The Rebel flag, less so.

Love these cars! My first trip to the States was a long time ago in Georgia and there (and then) were less shy about the Confederate flag... In Italy it is used quite often in football matches by Southern teams supporters.
