A New Beginning

A New Beginning Five years ago Mick was diagnosed with skin cancer. It took six operations before he was cancer free. That experience changed his perspective of life totally. I met Mick at the lakes in Handen on Sunday. He is from England. He flew to Sweden with a colleague a few days ago. Mick works for Coca-Cola, with refrigeration technique and is here to get the Swedish factory up to the same standard that they have back in England. He enjoys traveling and the tattoos are from visits to Thailand, Spain and New Zealand. The Maori tattoo on his chest means A New Beginning. Mick is a big guy, and has competed in many powerlifting competitions and won a lot of awards. He was very happy with his stay in Sweden although a bit upset about the price of lager!

Mick looks like a nice guy. I'm not big on tattoos, but I like the idea of getting a tattoo from different countries as you travel.

I guess his skin cancer caused a dilemma. Does he cover up for his skin, or show his tattoos. You have showed us the answer.

Julie and I buy art from our travels. The thought never occurred to me to get tattoos as souvenirs.

I think I'll stick to art.

So, I guess I am not the only person who wondered why a man who had battled serious skin cancer runs around with his shirt ff.

First thing I thought was to get a shirt on that guy!

Oh, dear. I've had melanoma so I know something about this. Mick has quite a few worrisome moles. Going shirtless is inviting trouble.

I think we are pretty united on that one - go back and find him and make him put a shirt on!

It has been considerably colder since I shot the portrait of Mick, so chances are good that he is wearing a t-shirt by now. And I think the dress code at Coca-Cola also suggests that he might be wearing some more clothing during the work week.
