Where's the fish?
This is Alexander. He was fishing from the board walk at Lower Lake Rudan in Handen when I met him. He is from Upplands Väsby (North of Stockholm). He and his wife (the heavily pregnant woman far away to the right), found out about this fishing lake via a internet forum and decided to give it a go. As we don't have a car, it seemed the perfect place with the commuter station so near Alexander told me. They are both students, have two kids with a third on the way. Alexander studies computer science at the Stockholm University, and will be able to work as a Systems Architect in the future. Unfortunately for Alexander he didn't have any fishing luck, but the wife (a certified nursing assistant studying to be a nurse), had already caught two or three fishes, so we know who the fishing expert is in this family!

Two kids with a third on the way as students: unthinkable here...
They look quite relaxed people and are enjoying another low intensity activity. Your strangers look more "human" lately.
I agree with Vogon Poet. Totally unthinkable here. You study before you have kids. You work before you have kids. You continue working while you have kids. Anything else is almost an accident.
Over here in the UK it would be quite difficult to have kids before college. This is perhaps a cultural thing, I guess.
Fishing is like that!
Flyfish in Rudan, what kind of fish did she get?
I don't believe that it's that uncommon. I'm sure there are people all over Europe that get married young and then if it is possible will focus on a higher education. And it's not college it's university studies. I'm no fishing expert Krille, but here is a list of what you might find in the lake: regnbåge, karp, öring, fjällröding. gädda, abborre, sutare, sarv and mört.
Amazing. I mean that his wife caught the fish. Something's fishy, for sure.
Another of your excellent posts, Steffe. I like the one the other day also.
Thanks for the visit to my blog.
The water looks dark like the swamps around here. I'm glad someone in their family caught some fish!
How nice that students can have children. That would be so impossible in Italy as Vogon Poet said.
Very nice story and Alexander sounds like quite a guy, though not a fisherman. Good thing he is studying computer science and not Fisheries.
I thought you might like to know, I am starting my Strangers series tomorrow and credit you for being the biggest inspiration for me to start. Thanks!
Nice shot. I wish Alexander better luck next time.
