Get a free a Holga
Here is your chance to win a Holga camera. Made by the people that gave you the LOMO. I bought a LOMO many years ago. And used it to document a trip to the greek isles. The result was great. It's a unique camera. To enter the Holga Competition visit Absolut Lomo and add a photo to the lomo wall. Then send that link to me and I will then pick a winner who will get a free Holga camera. Simple as that! If you want to learn more about the camera visit the official Lomo site.

Overtaking Accident
Overtaking accident at Tungelstavägen this afternoon. The yellow car (with a woman and a couple of kids in it) was overtaking another car. The driver then had to make a sudden swerve not to collide with a meeting car and as a result drove straight into the road pole. I talked to a cyclist who himself had been overtaken by the woman in the yellow car so this must have happened just a few seconds before I came around the corner. Luckily no one looked to have been hurt.

Garden Bird Watch
From Friday to Monday was the Swedish Garden Bird Watch. During one hour you write down the number of birds that you notice in your garden. I've sent in a report. Did see quite a number of different birds. This is the most common bird, we like to call it Talgoxe. I did also see Woodpecker, Blackbird, Jackdaws and the Eurasian Nuthatch to name a few. Last year 10 000 people took part in this event. I made the collage using picasa.

Christmas Tree
This is a house at Skogsekeby in Tungelsta. On the wall you can still see the outline of their Christmas Tree. Bigger photo. Björn Roos lives here with his family. His parents lives next door. Hid dad was a friend and colleague to my dad, that is, he was a gardener and one of his greenhouses can be seen glowing in the dark here.

Same Place Different Time
Same Place Different Time is the name of a flickr group that I post many photos to. I enjoy seeing what a difference a few months can do to a landscape. This is the same house I photographed earlier this week, the one my grandfather built. Looks a bit different today I think. Bigger photo.

A Winter Scene
There's a touch of white in this photo. This is Södertäljevägen 25 in Tungelsta. We had some more snow this morning. I don't know the family that lives here, but it looks inviting. The views have been amazing this last week when winterfinally arrived. Bigger photo.

Caffe Latte Anyone?
Tungelsta had a big laundry industry at the start of the last century. This building at the park in Tungelsta is built to look as the barns used in that industry 100 years ago. But it is in fact a cafe, where you can listen to music and hear poetry being read. The people trying to "break in" to the "Torklada" here is Jan Sandh from Föreningen Folk och Trädgård, and an unknown woman. Bigger photo.

Winter Landscape
My grandfather Oskar Andersson built this house on Tungelsta Road 118 many years ago. I don't know the Björklund family that lives here today. In the summer time they often have garage sales here. Looks good in the snow I think. The color used is called Falurödfärg.
Same place another winter.

Winter Bike Ride
Time for another Hockney style composite to "celebrate" the arrival of winter. This is a road called Allevägen in Lida. I had to stop here because of all the snow and ice on the road, and figured it was time for a few photos. Bigger photo is way cooler. I try riding all year. Cold weather isnt really a problem. If it's -10C you need to protect your face, the problem is when it's around freezing, with the icy roads, and sometimes the snow plower "forgets" about the bike paths and walkways which forces me to ride on the road and that can be scary. If you enjoy these types of photos I have a flickr Set with a few more.
I made a bike ride/winter video :

Winter has arrived
Winter arrived over the weekend. It snowed like crazy for a while. The preferred vehicle was the snow plower. This was the scene outside the local school on sunday afternoon. Many accidents reported all over the country. I took a number of photos yesterday, you can see them in my new winter set. And as an update, the red car is still standing there, I stopped and took another picture there just before I came home. Bigger photo.

Don't feel like paying for public transport?
The idea is very simple. You pay 100 SEK per month to the p-kassa. If you get caught riding a bus, train or subway without a ticket they will pay your fine. The people behind this movement comes from the Tradeunionism. It's a great deal considering that a one month pass will put you back 800 SEK.

Two Roundabout Dogs
I'm guessing you don't have any Roundabout Dogs where you live! It all started in the city of Linköping last year when an installation by the artist Stina Opitz was vandalised. A few days later a new dog appeared in the roundabout. That was all it took to get this new phenomenon going! These are the first two Roundabout Dogs in Haninge. First seen in Novermber 2006. The soon disappeared but last week they were back again. Here's a website in english. Bigger photo.

"to the Batmobile!"
Over the years Batman (or billionare Bruce Wayne) has led a rich life at the Wayne Manor. That lifestyle is now long gone. After losing all his wealth he had to let go of his beloved Batmobile. These days the crimefighting superhero can be seen driving an old Volkswagen Transporter. Bigger photo.

Back at the beach
One day after the storm and we are back to"normal" again. 7C warm when I went to bed. And when I woke up the sun was shining from a clear blue sky. I decided to stop by the beach again for a quick visit. I'm a bit addicted to beaches and I visit as often as I can. On this occasion I met a fisher man. No luck for him. I took my usual promenade and then relaxed for a while on the big bench down by the water. I always walk out on the piers for a shot back at the beach. I have to say that I prefer this winter compared to the last one where we had snow to the second week of April.
Bigger photo.

You Can't Park Here
After the latest storm. Lots of trees fell down. No trains were running to and from Nynäshamn. Power outs all around Haninge. And the roads was very slippery yesterday. This is the parking lot at a school in Tungelsta. There was a segment from Tungelsta on the tv last night. A big tree weighing around two tonnes fell and caused another power out. Bigger photo.

Home Sweet Home
Just two photos to show the difference between 2007 and 1912. Not sure who took that photo 95 years ago, but I took the 2007 version. My great grandfather pictured below with his wife and son bought the land here called Bergdalen ca 100 years ago. The family sold it a few years ago to the current gardener and we now rent the big house. The gardener lives in what used to be my grandparents house.

Behind the spruce hedge
Shot this photo on my Sunday morning promenade. The spruce hedge has been partly cut down along Blomgårdsvägen at Ålsta in Tungelsta. Behind it, the greenhouse skeletons from what's left of the Wall family business. Just to the right here is the Kryddgården complex. Only one of the Wall brothers alive today, I don't have any info about this property, but it is pretty much surrounded by the building site.

Professional at work ...
Wash Your Van Like a Pro.
Step one.
Use a high pressure heavy duty hose. Preferably one without any holes, so you don't risk any accidents.
Step two. See to it that there's no neighbour with a camera around...
This is my neighbour Ingemar, the gardener at Blomorado, out washing his old Van. Heavy winds here today, but a few degrees over zero, maybe 4C so he could wash the car outside, that doesnt happen very often here at least not in the middle of winter.

Street Art
There are lots of ugly graffiti all over Haninge. The kids spray everywhere and most of the time it looks really awful. I like it when street art looks like it was made by banksy. There's a movement all over the country now where "artists" make very cool Roundabout Dogs, but I havent seen anyone here yet, so in the meantime this will have to do. It's Homer Simpson painted on a pedestrian tunnel wall in Handen.

Spring cleaning already?
Spring is here! Another warm day and no snow so I guess it's time for some spring cleaning...Shot this at Villavägen in Västerhaninge. I heard the weatherman predict snow for tomorrow, we will see about that! Bigger photo.

A blue and red bridge
I was out looking for signs of the storm that hit us overnight. Many fallen trees and a few power outs here and there around Haninge is what I heard on the radio. I found nothing. Everything had been cleared up by the time I arrived. Instead I will show you a bridge. Made by Svenska Träbroar (wood bridges) AB. Length 168 meter Width 3,5 meter. It's the pedestrian bridge over Gudöbroleden in Handen, a road with heavy traffic. Bigger photo.

Mirror mirror...
The strange weather continues. 7C today. And a gray sky. It's been raining all day. If you look closely in the background you will see the entrance to the Mosque in Handen. There are somewhere between 100,000 and 400,000 Muslims living in Sweden. If you would like to see a photo of the beautiful Stockholm Mosque on Södermalm click here. Or HERE to see the Handen Mosque through the other traffic mirror (from April 2006).

Bonfire
A good way of celebrating a new year is with a bonfire. Normally this time of year we would have some snow on the ground up here in the north, but not so this time. This bonfire is burning at Stabergs Road in Nedersta. Bigger photo. Or zoom out a bit.

Warning For Weak Ice!
No worries. No ice here as far as I can see, and even if it was some ice on the pond in this bird park, most birds can't read anyway. More photos from this park can be seen here.

It's Gollum!
Look who I found, Gollum! Not really. This sculpture is called The Philosopher. It was made by an artist called Sture Collin. You will find it in a green area between the shopping mall and the bus stop at Eskilsvägen in Handen. There are a few benches here and in the summer time Gollum is always surronded by the local drunks. And me sometimes, as there's an uphill struggle before you get here ( on bike that is), so I have been sitting on those benches wondering about that sculpture a few times. If you want to see the whole sculpture press here.

A Payphone!
How long before all payphones will be gone? Here at the shopping centre in Västerhaninge a joker has written the word "bög" on the phone. It means gay, so this could be a gayphone according to a few of my flickr contacts, at least if you use the old meaning of gay: BRIGHT, brightly coloured, vivid, brilliant, vibrant; richly coloured, many-coloured, multicoloured; flamboyant, showy, gaudy. Sometimes when I take photos that look dull, I try to make them more interesting by using the cutout technique. I think this is a good example of that. And on another note people use this phone every day. If you wanna see more cool cutout photos press here.

A Church and a Church Rooster
Back at the church with the leaning tower. The tower is 58 meters high. It's a beautiful old church, construction started back in 1560. The old church is sometimes called Sankta Gertruds kyrka. It is located in Österhaninge. A rural area in Haninge. A few old farms. The church. An old Viking road where you can see a Runestone. Golden rape fields in the summer time. During the winter there's sometimes a snow track. A golf course. Chickens. The Art Promenade. And more. A sad note: When the builder realised that the tower was leaning, legend says he killed himself. Bigger photo.

Beaver Creek
Walking in nature. In Jordbro. At Gullringskärret, a nature reserve. Met a man out walking his dog. He walks here every day, and told me that the beavers had been hard at work down at the creek, so I went over there to have a closer look. Sure enough I noticed a number of fallen trees and a few new lodges and dams. No sign of any Castor fiber on this visit. Några rader om Gullringskärret.

2007 is here
As we entered 2007 I was standing on the living room roof downing some Champagne as I was trying to film and take pictures at the same time. Here's a picture from just a few minutes after midnight. Here's the video. Happy 2007 everyone!
