Logging

Biofuel Power Plant
Lots of logging in Haninge this month. This is near the Biofuel power plant in Jordbro. I wonder if the cut down trees will end up as fuel at the power plant?

Pimp My Bike

Pimp My Bike
I ran into the rat rod guy a few days ago. Benke, although I didn't recognise him at first.I blame that on the cool helmet. He was out riding his pimped bicycle. It's dirt cheap, it will set you back only 995 SEK. The engine kit that you can buy via Benke's web site,Sandelco, (Under Construction) will cost a bit more, but it's a great deal. This is 12 photos stitched together, shot with the nifty fifty of course.

Unreadable Viking Era Message

Viking Era Message
One thousand years ago a local Viking decided to raise this runestone. That is a long time ago. It was important to him to let everyone know what had happened. Too bad we can't read it today. This is one of Haninge's forgotten runestones. You will find it at Lövhagen in Österhaninge. The runic inscription reads: Ödgunn and Arnggärd had this stone raised after their brother. The stone was discovered by the farmer Rickard Åkerblom back in 1956 when he was digging a ditch.

Peas, Cauliflowers & DDT

Peas, Cauliflowers & DDT
Snowy field near the rebuilt commuter platform at Krigslida (to the right). When my dad was young he sometimes worked here as my family owned the land along the railway line. They cultivated peas and cauliflowers here. He told me that they used DDT on the crops. It wasn't very good for his overall health, but they didn't know that back then.

Bicycle Repairman

Squared Circle Portrait
Stig Nordén repairs bicycles in Vendelsö. I noticed a big hand made sign advertising his repair shop earlier in the week and decided to check it out. He has had the business for 26 years. I didn't ask about his age, but he told me that he worked as a bus conductor back in the early 1950s. Stig seems to be a great guy. He started telling me stories from that time while selling me a bike tire and fixing a bike in the shop. One of his hobbies includes painting, and some of the art he has made was hanging on the walls in the tiny shop.

Iced in

iced in

Swirly ice around a tree trunk at Håga. The horrible November weather continues. Rain and snow all day today. Grey skies and around 1 C, so the snow turns to water when it hits the ground. If you want to believe the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute we can expect a snow storm tomorrow with 2 decimetres of the white stuff, so hurrah for that!

Sixteen Barrels of Emptiness

Sixteen Barrels of Emptiness

Walking through the Håga industrial area on Saturday I stopped outside Greif Sweden for a very artistic shot through the fence. The company manufactures steel drums of many different models (and colors) here. I believe this model is a 216,5 liter tight head steel drum, so now you know that! Greif Sweden are very concerned with environmental issues and are planning to heat the oven at the plant with pellets. The factory dates back to 1960 when it was known as Van Leer. Today around 30 people work here. The clever title of today's post is thanks to my flickr friend Jim.

Sudden Change in the Weather

Winter Mirror

Winter Bikes

Ditched

Winter has arrived. Just like that. At least for some people. The meteorologists had been warning for the snow fall for at least one week. Did that help? Not one bit. Everyone seemed very surprised and chaos has been a good word to use the last few days with accidents on and off the roads. On the top photo you can see me shooting a self portrait in a traffic mirror at the Tungelsta commuter station. Second photo shows snowed in bikes at the station, and the last photo shows an abandoned car in a ditch, also in Tungelsta.

Salmon Dinner

Salmon Dinner

Are you like me, do you eat fish a couple of times every week? Here's my latest fish dinner. Salmon with some olives and tomatoes. With potatoes and a glass of red wine. Did I mention that I havent been to a McDonald's in over 20 years. The reason the photo is square is because it's for the Squared Circle group at flickr. There's more than 44 000 like this one over there. 365 of them are mine. These photos should always be seen as a slideshow.

junk and crap

junk and crap

Cleaned out the cellar yesterday from old furniture, an old TV, paint buckets, other buckets filled with whatever, VCR's, satellite recievers, a microwave oven and much more. Turned out to be bad idea when you have the flu! Dizzy Spell here I come! The people at Blomorado (my neighbours) then filled their big truck and drove off to the "återvinningsstation", or recycle station if you like.

The Fibonacci Spiral

The Fibonacci Spiral

This is a Snow Lady. A chrysanthemum that now grows in a flower bed at Bergdalen in Tungelsta where I live. It came from the greenhouses at Blomorado. If you look closely you can see the spiral. The Fibonacci Spiral is a geometric spiral whose growth is regulated by the Fibonacci Series.
