Hesslingby

Hesslingby
The Hesslingby estate in Österhaninge. It dates back nearly 400 years, and during that time a lot of interesting people have lived or even worked there, including famous feminist reformer Fredrika Bremer.

A Rural Bike Ride

A Rural Bike Ride Wheat Field
Before I hurt my back I took a rural bike ride through parts of Österhaninge. It was an amazing Summer day. Perfect temperature, a blue sky with fluffy clouds and with a cooling breeze. On the first photo you can see the fields and stable at Hesslingby. The wheat fields on the second photo are close to Alby.

Demeter's lego

Demeter's lego
Hay bales on a field in front of the Hesslingby estate in Österhaninge. I didn't have time to come up with a good title for this photo before my flickr friend Monika did that for me.

Autumn Vs. Summer

Autumn Vs. Summer

Time for another Different Seasons Diptych. This is the old estate Hesslingby, in rural Österhaninge. The left half of the diptych is an Autumn version that I shot a few days ago. The right half shows a summer view from July of 2010. Back in 1640 there lived a Field Marshall here. Now, some 370 years later the estate has been turned into a couple of apartments.

The Old Estate

Summer Green

Exterior Repainting and Repair

This is Hesslingby in rural Österhaninge. A mansion with a lot of history. Back in 1640 it was owned by Field Marshal Carl Carlsson Gyllenhielm. A few centuries later famous author Fredrika Bremer (1801-1861), had a public school here. Behind the mansion in the forest there's an ancient grave field. These two photos are from the last few weeks and it's good to see that the historical building is being restored to it's former glory. I shot these photos from the Medieval church in Österhaninge. I have a few more photos of this place, one of them was recently published in a book about old farms and estates in Österhaninge.

Skywatch Friday.

Paths we walk

Hässlingby V

If you walk down this old road at Kalvsvik in Österhaninge and turn right up ahead behind those houses, there's an old burial field with some ancient remains. This is Viking land. There's one or two fortresses in the woods here somewhere. I will probably be back soon to investigate and take more photos of course!

Kalvsvik

Hässlingby I

A promenade around Hesslingby in Österhaninge. A rural area where the Vikings used to live. They built the road I walked down. This is a rural area. A few horse farms, an old church and an art gallery. And a big golden rapeseed field. From watching this photo and the others in this flickr set I'm sure you can imagen the scent!
