Skating on a frozen lake

Skating on a frozen lake
If you want to try skating on a frozen lake I can recommend the Upper Lake at the Rudan nature reserve. That is what Ylva tried today. She bought the ice skates last year, before that she used her old figure skates, and there's a big difference in skating technique. You will often find Ylva at the nature reserve. During the summertime she will often go for a swim in the Lower Lake. It is great to live just a couple of minutes from this place she told me. It was bit chilly today. Around -8C but with a blue sky for a few hours.

Concentrated... I'd give anything to have -8 and sunshine...

Growing up in Minnesota we did a lot of skating on ponds and lakes which often took more effort than a rink, because the surface was uneven and sometimes quite rough. And snow made it worse. But we didn't care - had great fun!

There's nothing like skating on natural ice!

When I was growing up, I lived next to the pond where most townspeople skated. I never liked skating. The red outfit really stands out!
