Available Seating

Three Seats

Stairs

Seriously bad weather the last few days. Cold, grey, windy and rainy. Not really the best weather for photography if you ask me. On one of those grey days I found this scene near the commuter station in Handen. Three empty seats and an ashtray. When the smokers sit there and slowly kill themselves I imagine that they comment on the people that pass them by going up and down the stairs. At least that is what I would do as People Watching is one of my hobbies.

What are you talking about? People-watching IS your hobby! :-)

The unattractive places set aside for smoking demonstrate how addictive cigarettes are.

My brother used to wok at a hospital in Minnesota. The area for smokers was on the truck loading dock right next to where the trash dumpsters were located. Standing in such a location in the Minnesota winters could not have been pleasant, but smokers did it anyway.

You know I love patterns and these photos are full of them. Very nice.

Two terrific images. Lonely, and going nowhere.

Yeah, two terrific images. But geez, how tempting was it to straighten up that middle black chair ... good eye to compose this.

As for the stairs ... that is a photographer's delight. Geometry simply makes B&W photography. DragonStar would adore this. Even if she doesn't, I do.

Bravo, sir!!

Those stairs -- the monochrome really emphasizes the pattern and repetition.
