2024 Winter Count

2024 Winter Count
Another Winter Count. Starting with a "solpelare" from January. February is always a good time for enjoying a semla. A tunnel photo for March.Brunkebergstunneln. I have a thing for photographing windows. I snapped this with the zoom lens at Söder Mälarstrand in May. Kinda fun that the guy noticed me. A lot of people get married at Stockholm City Hall. Back in May, I got a photo of this couple. A busy street turned into a pedestrian heaven for a few weekends this past Summer. This contortionist caught me eye so much that I made an album with her performance inside the whale skeleton at Sveavägen. I took many promenades through the old town this year. In July, these two teenage girls asked to have their photo taken. On a whim I decided that I should start documenting Solna, so I started two Flickr albums that I quickly filled up with photos from that municipality. This a new parking garage called the Beehive. After a three-year-long hiatus, the BBQ evenings at Villa Blåmes started again. Which was nice, not counting the hangovers. I walked up to the top of the Hammarbybacken hill twice this Autumn because of all the great views over Stockholm from that ski hill. In November I decided to start a new 100 days of darkness project. And lastly, a photo from the annual Stockholm Santa Run. Perfect for for December I think.

Winter Count 2023

Winter Count 2023
My 14th Winter Count. One photo per month from 2023. January sees a well-known sculpture at Sergels torg. A snowy Meditation Hill view from Skogskyrkogården in February. Classic Stockholm view with Riddarfjärden, Riddarholmen and Stadshuset for March. The annual Cherry Blossom craze at Kungsträdgården works well for April. I met the guy on the "Höghjuling" in the May photo twice this year, he shouted to me saying that there are no brakes on the bike. Gustav Vasa posing for a photo represents June. A Royal Guard at the Royal Palace was my pick for July. The wedding couple were having their photo taken by another photographer when I arrived at City Hall and I could not resist taking my own photo of them. The police officer in the September photo was busy keeping an eye on Greta Thunberg and myself during a demonstration from the Royal Palace to Medborgarplatsen. My Autumn photo comes from Djurgårdsbrunn. Back to Kungsträdgården for the November shot with a group of tourists posing on the same spot as my April photo but with different colors. We finish with my preferred vehicle year round, my Gazelle Ultimate 8 eBike.

Winter Count 2021

Winter Count 2021
My twelfth Winter Count. The year started with snow in January, that was soon followed by a lot of flooding around Tungelsta so that is my January photo for this year's Winter Count. A couple of the usual suspects were out and about here and there in the first half of the year. So my February photo is a photo from one such outing, at Ytterjärna where you can find some interesting architecture. I photographed quite a few local construction sites around Haninge. The March photo comes from Vegastaden. I climbed three or maybe even four hills in April. One of the hills featured a Vårdkase in Sorunda. I saw a few palaces and castles this year, this one, Tullgarn is a favorite, I stopped by there back in May. I bought a very expensive e-bike in the early Summer, so a photo of the Gazelle Ultimate 8, shot in Tyresö represents June. July saw a lot of rides around Stockholm with visits to many places, including a few beaches like this one at Hornsberg. I saw at least four bands playing live music in Stockholm during the year, so a photo from Götgatsbacken showing Ladies Got the Blues will represent August. Always fun to photograph the long arm of the law hard at work, so that is what I did on a sunny day in September. October means Autumn photos, so here is one such photo from Södermalm. I took a lot of photos of famous buildings in Stockholm this year. City Hall, or Stadshuset is probably the most known and photographed building in the nation's capital. Seen here from Riddarholmen on a day in November. The main focus for me and my photography this year was Street and Stockholm, so here is one such snap from Gamla Stan.

2018 Winter Count

2018 Winter Count
For the last 9 years I have ended the year with a Winter Count. It is one photo from every month of the year. Last year was a year with many ups and downs, both personally, and weather-wise, which this collage clearly shows. The year started with a lot of snow, but the in May Summer arrived one month early, and stayed around much longer than usual. The first photo shows a skier at the very popular Rudan nature reserve in Handen. The second photo shows a man trying to clear the snow outside the restaurant across the road from where I live in Tungelsta. He had a tough day. I took the March photo on my first visit to the beach, there was ice everywhere at the Hårsfjärden Bay. April started with cold weather and the tree trunk stuck in the ice at the Lower Lake at Rudan shows just that. I met a very photo shy girl in May, Ronja. She did not want to have her photo taken. Two days later we met for a photo shoot/promenade around a lake in Handen and I think I cured her from that fear. You can see those photos here. June and July were hot! Seriously so. Which these two sunbathing females clearly shows. Photographed at Eskilsparken in Handen and at Nickstabadet in Nynäshamn. My favorite car event of the year for the last decade or so came to an abrupt end of sorts. The Vegabaren meet moved to Huddinge and Lissma park and it wasn't the same thing at all, although there were a lot of people and cool cars at the event. You can see those photos here. September was a fine Summer month last year as proven by the woman at my favorite beach. I took quite a few fine Autumn snaps in October. November arrived with cold days and a lot of mist. My photo of the old tree was a big hit over at flickr. Snow in December, back to normal I guess. Found the snowman across the road from the grocery store in Tungelsta.

Winter Count 2017

Winter Count
Time for another Winter Count. Time flies and all that. Had to find a care facility for my mother at the start of the year. She now lives at Malmgården at Dalarö. My flickr buddy Bengt enjoyed a minisemla at my favorite cafe back in February. A nice sign of Spring popped up in March. The old tree had to make an appearance of course, so here is an April snap of the Swedish Whitebeam. I visited a few car meets this year. The first one was at Årsta castle back in May. Celebrated Midsummer with my mother at her care facility, that was a fine day. Bought six new lenses this year. My test model for most of them was my neighbour Danuta. The, (photography), Summer highlight is often the big greaser meet at Vegabaren and that is where I snapped the portrait of the guy with the face tattoo. The annual bike race was of course a must, I took many panning shots that day. Autumn is represented by this photo of an old cottage at Ormsta, a tiny hamlet in a rural part of Haninge. Another new lens, this time my model was Mikael who has been my barber for a couple of decades. I almost gave up photography late in the year because of the poor weather, but here is a snap from the first snowfall of the season, taken from the hill at home.

Winter Count 2016

Winter Count 2016
For the last seven years I have made a Winter count. A collage with 12 photos from the previous year. One photo per month. The Adventure of the Cardboard Box was of course a part of my photo year 2016. Golfing in February doesn't happen every year in my part of the world. Batman vs Superman was a big movie for a lot of people in 2016. Early Spring gets a lot of photographers out looking for Anemones. The only pop star I met during the year was from Rednex. This was a first. Cornflowers turning a field blue near the old tree. The Summer was colorful. I met a future author. The annual visit to the Vegabaren Greaser meet is always a highlight in August. For the second year running I met Marla Kay at Sundby Gård. An impromptu photo shoot with a world class cyclist in October. My latest 12-month series, a pier at the Rudan nature reserve. I have aimed the camera at the water towers a few times in the last year. This was a December sunset.

Winter Count 2015

Winter Count
January, a very happy skier at the Rudan nature reserve. February, sculpture in the snow at the Tungelsta park. March. Met my flickr friend Benke at my favorite cafe. April, walked into a metal ladder in the dark. May, took a walk in a forest that soon will be gone. June. Portrait of the smiling Michelle. July, a juicy berry, one example of the many macro photos I have shot this year. August, a portrait of the beautiful electrician who was also featured in my Winter Count back in 2010. September, a meeting with the Swedish police. October, Autumn visit to the old tree. November. I wrote a petition to save this little house at Malmvägen. December, one of a number of photos I have taken this year on the redesigned water towers in Handen.

2014 Winter Count

Winter Count
For the last six years I have done what is called a Winter Count. The idea is simple. Pick one photo per month from the year and put them together in a collage. The year started with snow in January. Signs of Spring popped up as early as February. In March I bought myself a new bike. I shot my first street portrait in April when I met the tattooist Niklas. I was at a castle in May when I met Elvira. Summer arrived in June and I started shooting more portraits.Tora was easy to spot. It was Nicole's hair color I noticed first when we met back in July. For the third year running I saw Lugnet perform at the Rock in the Park festival in Tungelsta in August. I spotted Lemmy and Alice Cooper in Jordbro in September. It was a very warm Autumn, and I met a snake sunning on a bike path in late October. Superwoman walked in to my favorite cafe a day in November. A few weeks later Sarah broke two world records and won two World Championship gold medals. The sun disappeared for six weeks late in the year and the lake photo was a typical December scene.

2012 Winter Count

Winter Count 2012
My Winter count for 2012. One photo for every month of the year. I did shoot many street portraits while meeting many interesting people this year. The ones that you see here are Rontti. Kim. Isabella. Emelie. Mick. Baby Diaper. Erika. Sandra. Jonas and Kajsa. As per usual I also visited the old tree a couple of times. And then in November came the early winter. I wonder what 2013 will bring? Happy New Year everyone.
