The Girl in The Field

The Girl in The Field Summer Selfie
As a photographer I find it hard not to stop and photograph the local canola fields. This Summer I have found three such fields while out cycling. It was a glorious day when I returned to the field near Alby next to the Österhaninge cemetery. I was there for maybe 40 minutes. Took a few walks as I photographed the field with three different lenses on two different cameras. Mid-shoot I sat down on a small hill overlooking the field and ate a meatball sandwich. And during all that time a young girl was walking around in the canola field! I spotted her as soon as I arrived and then her head popped up here and there, I waved to her but got no response, she was still there when I left.

Sugar beet field

Sugar beet Fall Field Coca-Cola?
A big sugar beet field near Alby in rural Österhaninge. There are not too many farmers in this part of Sweden who grows these beets. Just three percent of these beets are grown outside of Skåne in the south of the country. But we do have the big Coca-Cola plant nearby in Jordbro. They always tell us that they will use locally produced cultivators, and as this is the same sugar that you get from the sugarcane, chances are that it will be used to make Coca-Cola.

A Rural Bike Ride

A Rural Bike Ride Wheat Field
Before I hurt my back I took a rural bike ride through parts of Österhaninge. It was an amazing Summer day. Perfect temperature, a blue sky with fluffy clouds and with a cooling breeze. On the first photo you can see the fields and stable at Hesslingby. The wheat fields on the second photo are close to Alby.

Shelter

Shelter
This was tricky. Been keeping my eyes open for a shelter for quite a while and this was as close, (or as far away), as I could come. A very old hut at Alby in rural Haninge. Theme Day at CDP.

A Big Window

A Big Window A newish house at the old village Alby in a rural part of Österhaninge. Sure is a big window, especially if you look at that little greenhouse. Shot this a few weeks ago when I was out testing the silent zoom lens. The guy that lives there is an entrepreneur. He owns a few local eateries in Haninge.

The Mousetrap

Råttfällan

As a member of the historical association I am sometimes asked to photograph old cottages for upcoming books. This is one such place. This property dates back to 1741. The name is a bit unusual. It is called The Mousetrap or Råttfällan in Swedish. It is located at Alby, a rural part of Haninge. The story behind the name is that there once lived a boatswain here who hated rats and he apparently made a lot of mousetraps. That same legend also says that he made traps for roe deers and elks! On my visit I had a lengthy chat with the current owner Mr. Svanäng. He is a retired farmer who has lived her for eleven years.

Autumn at Alby

Alby in Autumn

Alby in Autumn

The weather of late hasn't been very good for photography. Only rain and grey skies. So I figured a few more colorful autumn photos would be nice. Here are two shots taken from a hill at the big cemetery in Österhaninge a couple of weeks ago. Alby is a small rural village with a few horse farms. If I had panned the camera to the left you would have seen the view that I showed you here one year ago.

Autumn Horse

Autumn Horse

The weekend weather hasn't been any good for photography, at least not the kind I enjoy. So here is another view from Alby, taken a few days ago. Alby is a rural part of Haninge with a few small horse farms.

Rural Alby

Alby II

A horse farm at Alby, an old rural part of Österhaninge. Bigger photo. Part of a zooming sequence. Zoom in on the yellow house HERE or out HERE, to see the rapeseed field. There are many things to see in this area including two old hill fort that I havent visited yet. If you want to see more photos from this area i have a flickr set called Vikingland.
