Flexible Living

Facade Pointy Roof
Two photos from Rimfrostgränd at what is today known as Norra Tyresö Centrum. The apartments at Brf Steget are described as flexible. That means that you can move a wall to make your one-room apartment into a two-room apartment. Or if you live in a three-room apartment you can change that to a four-room apartment! Oh, and there is a hotel on the roof for butterflies!

Sjötungan

Sjötungan
Sjötungan is the name of the bostadsrättsförening that you will find here. I picked that word to help Judith with her Swedish vocabulary. And this is the entrance to their parking garage. As seen while out cycling in Tyresö last week. And to find out what the word Sjötunga means press here.

Spirudden

Enjoying his day Oak Tree Smedjan Spirudden
It was the warmest day of the year, so far, but that doesn't really mean anything because it was only 12C, but after a long Winter it was good enough for me. So I planned for a very long bike ride but in the end I only got to this place Spirudden in the neighbouring municipality Tyresö. However, what I didnt plan for was another flat tire, so while I waited for my ride home to arrive, (friendly neighbour in her Jeep), I went for a walk and snapped these photos.

Påsk

Påsk I spotted this Easter-decorated tree at a bus stop at the Tyresö mall a couple of days ago.

Brf Slänten

Brf Slänten Vegastaden Four Windows
Brf Slänten with 189 apartments under construction at Vegastaden in Haninge. The architect is Petter Aaro from BSK Arkitekter. Shot as a panorama with my Canon 77D and the 18-135mm lens. This is a busy construction site and it was impossible to stand further back, had I shot it with a wider angle it would probably have looked too weird for my taste. Here is another panorama of the same building, shot with my 6D using a 50mm lens.

Klinker

Klinker
Swedish word of the dsy. Klinker. Tiles. As seen on the facade at a new apartment building at Vegastaden. I will show you a few snaps of the building tomorrow.

Drilling and blasting

Drilling and blasting
This little hill at Vegastaden will soon be history. A few years ago this was in the middle of a forest. Today a few thousand people already live here. This is just 500 meters away from where I took yesterdays photo.

Under Wraps

Under Wraps
My bicycle took me to Vegastaden, the new city in Haninge. A massive project that seems to be never-ending. I noticed several new projects under way and at least one new road on this my latest visit. Not completley sure about the building hiding behind the scaffolding yet. But I will have to read up about as I might move to this area in a not too distant future.

No two anemones alike

Blåsippa
I have a thing for anemones. As do a lot of people, especially macro photographers. It is a bit like snow crystals, no two anemones alike. A week or so before you can spot them I start the search. When they appear it is the best sign of Spring. There are two places that I visit every Spring in my hunt for the "blåsippor" as we like to call them. Yesterday while crawling around on all four at the Gullringskärrets nature reserve in Jordbro I finally spotted them. I decided to go easy and only shot twenty or so photos and this was my favorite. Chances are that I will check out the other place later today, especially as the warm weather is back.

If walls could talk

Location, Location, Location
This abandoned house can be found along Söderbyvägen in Lillgården in Tungelsta. I don't remember when I last snapped a photo of it, if ever, but I am pretty sure it looked a bit different back then. Only time will tell if it will be gone soon and replaced with something newer.

Hiking

Glacial erratic Spång Vattendrag
Three photos from my hike to Transjön. And three Swedish words. Flyttblock. Glacial erratic. Spång. Foot-bridge. Vattendrag. Watercourse.

Transjön

Frozen Lake Transjön Vindskydd
My hike through the forest took me to a little lake called Transjön, near Hemfosa. The Spring sunshine at the lake warmed me up a bit after the walk. A thin layer of ice still covered the lake. Had I wanted to I could have spent the night in the wind shelter but I will leave that to the real hikers that often use this trail.

Icy Wetland

Icy Wetland
On my short hike to Lake Transjön earlier in the week I walked past this icy wetland.

Salvageable?

Salvageable?
There are around fifty lakes in Haninge so we do have a lot of boat people here. And we have a long coast as well so there's that. But I am still bit perplexed about this boatwreck. It sits at a bus stop, (!), along Sorundavägen. Maybe it is a good shelter if it is raining and you are waiting for the bus, I don't know, but it made for a good photo oppurtunity none the less. Shot this on Tuesday while on my way to another lake that is hidden away in a forest along the popular Sörmlandsleden.

Österhaningesalen

Österhaningesalen
This is the ceremonial funeral building at the Österhaninge graveyard. It is built in the shape of a stranded ship, turned upside down. At least according to the architects. The design is also meant to look a bit like the medieval church in Österhaninge, you can see photos of the church in my set. The building is open for all types of funerals, no matter what religion you are, including non-religious funerals. The architects were Åsa Flarup-Källmark, Monica Sandberg, and Bengt Krusemo. You get a better view here.

Cat crossing

Cat crossing
A cat crossing, or maybe a Övertasställe, (new word made up by me), at Sanda in Österhaninge. The cat that lives with me, Tindra, comes from here.

Gulsparv

Yellowhammer
5C from a gray sky when I jumped off the bike at the big cemetery in Österhaninge. It is surrounded by forests on all sides so I decided to gor a walk in said forest and that's where I spotted this Yellowhammer.

Green Storage

Green Storage
New storage facility at the industrial park in Handen. Not sure if they have even opened up for business. My take on this is, if you don't have the space for it at home and you clearly are not using it, whatever it is, sell it.

Tornet

Tornet Brandbergens Centrum
Part of the new building, Tornet "The Tower" at the Brandbergen mall. This part of the building looks like it will be 10 stories high. The real tower will be constructed next to it and will be a bit higher. Built by Savana.

The old burial ground

Grave Field Gravestone Jordbro Gravfält The old burial ground in Jordbro earlier today. Up to one thousand graves from around 500 BC to 500 AC. The largest such grave field in Sweden. A cold but sunny walk.

New House

New House
Someone is building a new house at the corner of Hammarbergsvägen/Tungelstavägen in Tungelsta. An acquaintance of mine designed the gray building many years ago. It replaced an older building that sat the small hill for a century. This new house will have a view towards the former fire station and my old school from first grade.

Nedre Rudasjön

The Lower Lake Ice fishing
The Lower Lake at the Rudan nature reserve. I always shoot this view from the jetty in yesterdays post when I'm at the lakes. On the second photo you can see three Eastern European men ice fishing from another jetty. It is not safe to fish directly from the ice. Eight men have died elsewhere in the last week in this country because they believed that the ice would be thick enough.

Winter or Spring?

Winter or Spring?
Frozen Lake
Whenever I visit the Rudan nature reserve I try to shoot a few photos from one of the jetties at the Lower Lake, and that is what I did yesterday after taking the top photo. The lake is still covered by a layer of ice, but it is not safe to walk over the ice now after the warmer temperatures from last week. The second photo is a panorama from nine photos. Shot from the cliffs at the Lower Lake.

Aspen Hill

Aspen Hill
This is Aspkullen in Österhaninge. You have seen it before and chances are that you will see it again, come the real Spring, as it is on my list of favorite places that needs to be photographed every now and then. The "warm" weather from a couple of days ago are now history. -3C overnight and 2C as I'm typing this. If you walk up this hill you have a decent view of the surroundings including a golf course, a couple of farms, open fields, and a Medieval church. I choose not to do that on this occasion because of the muddy conditions but as I have already stated I will be back.

Vårskugga

Vårskugga
Swedish word of the day. Vårskugga. Spring shadow. My first outdoor "fika" of the year. Shot a few days ago now on a warm and sunny day. It was 10C, but much warmer in the corner where I enjoyed my coffee.

Spring

Vårtecken Krokus Crocus
The meteorologists SMHI informed us last Friday that Spring had arrived in Stockholm and here is the proof. A few temperature records have been broken already this Winter/Spring and I'm guessing that that is likely to continue. All snow is as you can guess long gone.

Lifebuoy

Lifebuoy
March started with a warm (ish), day. It was around 8C when I jumped on the bike and pedaled down to Östnora. As the theme day over at CityDailyPhoto told us to shoot a mirror image I brought with me my lensball. Walking out on the big jetty I decided to shoot the Trygg-Hansa lifebuoy.
