Each to their own

Each to their own
Welcome to Haninge. That is what it says on a sign next to this property at Nordenskiölds väg at Vega in Haninge. There used to be another building here, but it was teared down earlier this year. I think that the municipality have plans for this area. This is very close to Vegastaden.

Shades of red

Shades of Red Falu Rödfärg
New red row-houses at Kvadrantvägen, Vegastaden. Built last year. They are called gavelradhus, and what you don't see here are the roof terraces on the other side, facing the forest. The nearest school is just across the road. There are also several pre-schools here. Equally, close is the grocery store where there is a gym on the roof! Also, this is just a short walk from the new commuter station where you will find more restaurants, cafés, and more. And if you are a car person, the motorway to Stockholm is also quite close. As are two big malls in Handen. The houses are Nordic Swan Ecolabelled. Oh, and both photos are panoramic images shot with my old canon 77D, using the 60mm lens,

Vegastaden

Vardövägen Kolarbacken Barents Väg Milavägen
A few photos showing more or less new houses at Vegastaden. Different architecture from the larger apartment buildings closer to the commuter station that I showed you a while back.

Vegastaden

Busy Construction Site Vegastaden Tornstaden Byggnadsställning Väderskydd
Whenever I visit Vegastaden a new project looks to have started. Been like that for a few years now and it is likely to continue like that for a while longer. But as I enjoy documenting change I say, keep the projects coming. This was just a grassy area surrounded by a forest a few years ago. I took the top photo from the hairpin-turn.

Brf Slänten

Brf Slänten Vegastaden Four Windows
Brf Slänten with 189 apartments under construction at Vegastaden in Haninge. The architect is Petter Aaro from BSK Arkitekter. Shot as a panorama with my Canon 77D and the 18-135mm lens. This is a busy construction site and it was impossible to stand further back, had I shot it with a wider angle it would probably have looked too weird for my taste. Here is another panorama of the same building, shot with my 6D using a 50mm lens.

Klinker

Klinker
Swedish word of the dsy. Klinker. Tiles. As seen on the facade at a new apartment building at Vegastaden. I will show you a few snaps of the building tomorrow.

Drilling and blasting

Drilling and blasting
This little hill at Vegastaden will soon be history. A few years ago this was in the middle of a forest. Today a few thousand people already live here. This is just 500 meters away from where I took yesterdays photo.

Under Wraps

Under Wraps
My bicycle took me to Vegastaden, the new city in Haninge. A massive project that seems to be never-ending. I noticed several new projects under way and at least one new road on this my latest visit. Not completley sure about the building hiding behind the scaffolding yet. But I will have to read up about as I might move to this area in a not too distant future.

A brief pause

A construction worker taking a break. As seen at the busy construction site that is vegastaden a while back.

Brf Slänten

Brf Slänten Scaffolding Articulated Corner
A new apartment building at Vegastaden. Tricky to photograph. I stood up against a fence as I took the first photo. Tried my luck with a wide-angle lens, but the distortion gave me a headache. The top photo is nine photos shot with one of my nifty fifty lenses. I snapped the third photo from the other side of the commuter station.

Vegastaden

Jacqueline Byggarbetsplats Welcome Up! Valparaiso Jeffrey's Stockholm Arigato Sushi The Two White Turds
A few more photos from Vegastaden. I took these at the new commuter station. It opened for traffic one year ago. The top photo shows Jacqueline sitting in her Scania truck at the station, a little later she drove up the road that I showed you in yesterday's post. She had a delivery to one of the new places currently under construction. I sent her a link with a few photos of the truck earlier in the week. The second photo shows a tractor driving past a brand new apartment building,(that would be photo number three). Everyone needs to eat so I'm sure that the food truck makes a good business here. The fifth photo shows a young family that probably just moved to the area checking out a soon to open sushi bar. The last photo is a bit upsetting. It is part of a sculpture that apparently cost the municipality 1 000 000SEK.

Vega Allé

Vega Allé 146 Vega Allé Tallhöjden Vega Allé Skogsstjärnan Vardövägen 50 Vega Allé 98 Brf Slänten
Eight photos from Vega Allé, a busy road in the new part of Haninge called Vegastaden. This is a huge project. Several thousand people are already living here, and that number will only go up. This was a forest just a few years ago. Today there's a new commuter station, a couple of schools, parks, playgrounds and more.

Wofflans Stenugnsbageri Wofflans Stenugnsbageri Wofflans Stenugnsbageri
Out photographing all the new houses currently under construction at Vegastaden,(will show you a few later), I stopped outside this cafe that has been open for quite a while now. I am yet to try it, but I have heard a lot of good things about it.

New Apartments

New Apartments
A new apartment building at Vegastaden. Panorama made from nine images shot with the 18-135mm lens. Tricky to stitch together as the crane kept moving. The nerve of some crane operators! You obviously need to shut everything down when a photographer arrives! The location is pretty good, you can see the commuter station to the right. Jump on the train and be in Stockholm 20 minutes later.

USA-Bilar (US-Cars)

USA-Bilar (US-Cars)
That is what a sign used to say at this building at Kvarntorp in Handen for a very long time. Back in the 1970s Palle Eriksson & Mayer imported cars from the US, and sold them here. It was also a repair shop run by a man called Boström. Later it became Auto Team, owned by a guy nicknamed Dimman. Today Haninge Bil Mek and AC Service. This area has undergone a big change in recent years and is now part of the new Vegastaden.

Vegastaden

Vegastaden
The plan was to show you quite a few photos from all the construction going on at Vegastaden (Vega City), so I decided to use a wide-angle lens for once. But as I figured the distortion might be too much for my liking and that is precisely what happened so those photos will probably never see the light of day! The good news is that I will go back next week with a 50mm lens and my trusted 70-300mm lens and shoot a number of panoramic images and they will look much better. Anywho, this photo shows three of those new buildings, here blocked by part of the commuter station.

The jury's still out

The jury's still out
It's all a bit arty-farty if you ask me. New artwork at the commuter station at Vegastaden in Haninge.

Ikano

Ikano
Ikano building new apartments at Vega Allé at the big project Vegastaden. Last I looked nearly all sold out. Facts and photos here. The location is pretty good. The new commuter station is 100 hundred meters away and the commuter train will take you to Stockholm in 20 minutes.

Cederhusen

Cederhusen
The wooden houses, (Cedar), at Vegastaden in Handen. The first occupants moved in back in June. All apartments have a balcony or a terrace. There's also a bigger roof terrace open for everyone. The architect was BAU – Byrån för Arkitektur & Urbanism. The commuter station is a just short walk from the apartment building. All sold out, but expect to pay around 50 000SEK per square meter if you want to get your hands on an apartment here.
