Yoko Onoish
That was my first impression when I saw her sitting on a bench together with her boyfriend at Södermalm in Stockholm a while back. I was out for a walk with the camera and this was the first photo I took during that promenade.

STHLM Mayhem
There was a Crossfit event at Eskilspaken in Handen this weekend. Fifty teams took part in the competition that was called STHLM Mayhem. Organized by a local gym Crossfit Södertörn. There were four members in each team, two men and two women. I stuck around for a while and was very impressed by how fit everyone seemed to be. More photos in my flickr set.

Sunflowers For a good cause
The agricultural college at Berga has planted sunflowers on both sides of the Stavsvägen road in Tungelsta. If you pick a flower they would appreciate if you could Swish at least 10SEK to The Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund. The number is: 123 538 1355

Ellen
This is Ellen. I spotted her at my favorite cafe, Malmens konditori in Handen. She was having coffee with her family when I arrived. I walked over and asked if I could take her portrait when they were done, and she happily said yes. Twenty minutes later we headed over to a little park for an impromptu photo session. I asked her about her outfit and she explained that this is how she dresses every day. It's a 1940s dress style and she wears it perfectly down to the lipstick, shoes, and handbag. Ellen told me that she spends a lot of her free time at home. She enjoys needlework and baking, and as you can guess anything to do with vintage things, and visits as many flea markets as she can. In the future she sees herself working as a paraprofessional, possibly at a retirement home.

This is Tilde. She works at my new favorite cafe at Vega in Handen. I really had to take her portrait.

Pirate Harbour
For many years now there have been a number of big boats illegally moored at Oljehamnen, nicknamed Pirathamnen, at Tantolunden on Södermalm in Stockholm. I took this photo while on a promenade there just last week. When I woke up this morning I heard on the news that the boat had been destroyed in a fire overnight, and that one person had been injured and taken to hospital. Reading up on the accident it is now clear that all the boats will be removed soon.

Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen
I took these five photos a few days ago, on a warm and sunny August day at Djurgården. All shot along the Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen in Stockholm. The canal goes between Djurgårdsbrunnsviken and Lilla Värtan. It was dug out back in the 1830s. There are plenty of sightseeing boats in the canal this time of the year.

A Dance of Roses
The pedestrian tunnel at the commuter station in Handen. Based on the artwork A Dance of Roses by Valeria Montti Colques, the "Graffitiförmedlingen" painted the iron roof to look like an exploding rainbow.

MonstroCity
Not the official name. That would be Lighthouse Stockholm, but I think my name fits better. From a recent walk around Djurgården in Stockholm. The apartment building stands at the Kvarnholmen island in Nacka. The architects who really shouldn't be named are Sweco. When they are done around 3000 apartments will have been built here. There are a few big mills still standing here from when KF, the Swedish Co-operative Union, was in charge of the island. In 1897 they built Quarnen Tre Kronor a mill that was in operation for nearly a century and that is the building in my second photo.

Annie Kratz-Gutå
The annual rock festival in the park in Tungelsta took place yesterday. Trädgårdsrock. For the twentieth time. It was a very rainy affair. But the park soon filled up with people as it always does, no matter the weather. I stuck around for three of four acts. My camera doesn't really like rain so when it started to come down really hard I ran for home! First on stage was local singer Annie Kratz-Gutå with her band. She took part in the Melodifestivalen many years ago. The contest that determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. You can see that clip here. She has also been in Idols Sweden. She sang in Swedish and talked a lot about her personal life in a fun way between songs.

Stockholm Waterfront
Stockholm Waterfront. Hotel. Offices. Conferences. At Klarabergsviadukten in Stockholm. By White Arkitekter. It changed the skyline quite a bit. Ask anyone about the building and you will probably get a long answer. Some people hate it, others love the new approach and the new architecture. I find it very photogenic myself.

Desirée
I bought another portrait lens a while back. A Sigma 50mm 1.4. I haven't used it much for different reasons, but I thought that Desirée looked very pretty and photogenic on a visit to her cafe, Novas Trädgård at Vega in Handen a couple of days ago now so I asked her if I could grab a few portraits.

People out and about
Stockholm is made up of islands and there are several scenic walks around all of them. Here are a few people photos from a 13 km walk around Södermanlm a couple of days ago. It was a fantastic summer day. The walk took 2 hours and you can also add half an hour for two cafe stops.
