Do you like heights and working outdoors?
If so, crane assembly is a job for you. The crane here will be 64 meters high. It is buried six meters under ground next to the Haninge mall. The counterweight weighs 17 tonnes. When the workers had come this far in the assembly of the giant crane the guy in orange helmet started shouting. It is the wrong number, we have the wrong part up here! So another guy ran past me to see if everything was as it should be, and it was. The crane will be used during the renovation of the old City Hall building in Handen. It will be turned into an apartment building, the view from the top of the building is amazing. You can see Stockholm, the archipelago, and all the forests of course. Press here to see the building in question. I took this photo a few days ago and I'm happy to report that the crane is now up and ready for work. Today is Theme Day at CityDailyPhoto. The theme is Worker.

excellent image ! :)
Nice shot!
Golly, Steffe, the original City Hall building is b for boring. It looks like the social housing high-rise buildings that councils built in our major cities in the early 70s.
To answer your question: I love working outdoors, but MUST have my feet on the ground!
Indeed Julie. No architectural awards for that one. There's one more City Hall building in Handen. Just a hundred or so meters from this one. Can't remember if I have a photo of it, will have a look at my archive and post a link here if I find it.
wow, great shot!
all the way up there
Great capture, very impressive. I love to work outside but height is definitely not for me!!
Yikes!
Great shot, but not a work for me...
Not the kind of work I'd like. Not at all. Heights scare me!
Now that is a job I could never do. It makes me kind of dizzy just thinking about it.
Yipes! I don't know how those workers can climb around so high above good old Terra Firma.
The horses were putting on a plowing exhibition. MB
Quite an impressive shot, Stefan, and just at the critical moment.
Powerful! Great capture.
Super theme day shot.
I'd pass on this job, though, what with my fear of heights. Looks very much like a huge puzzle that you better get right the first time!
No, thank you! Heights are bad enough but outdoors in winter is pretty unappealing, too.
Great catch at just the right time! Not a job I would like!
Well, Steffe, this is a very appropriate "worker" photo for theme day, but no, I don't like working outside nor do I like heights. That is not a job I would do.
Whoa. That's no desk job !
I like heights and I have worked on very high scaffolding when I was younger. Good times, I felt much better than in my office now. An age thing probably...
Excellent shot for the theme Steffe and thank goodness for people who are not scaredy cats like moi :)
Am used to climbing cranes, this one looks a good one (sloping ladders and larger size so not too much sway)
