Armored Modular Vehicle

Patria Ambulance
Made in Finland by Patria. This is the armoured wheeled vehicle in the Swedish defence force known as Pansarterrängbil 203. This is an ambulance version. I spotted it in Handen yesterday as I was shooting a panorama at a building site and managed to get a few shots before it passed me, the driver waved at me so I waved back.

One thinks of Sweden as such a peaceful, peace-loving country, although it has a robust military and military industrial sector.

Costa Rica abolished its military in 1949 and so far it has worked well. And it is surrounded by other countries in Central America that certainly have a record of military instability more threatening than Scandinavia. Central America does not have the historical experience of World War I or II or the cold war in the area, of course.

It looks similar to ones we have here. They can move pretty fast.

That cyclist looks unsure whether to pass this thing or not. I sure wouldn't want it following me.

At least he is not wearing a mask.
