Stepping back in time

Scania L 80

Turntable Ladder Operator

A (former), Scania firetruck from 1975 with a turntable ladder arrived to Blomorado in Tungelsta on Saturday. Which was like stepping back in time. I'm guessing most boys at one time may have wanted to become a fire fighter, or even a turntable ladder operator like the guy on the second photo. I remember these old trucks. They sure look very different compared to the modern fire trucks. It was a problem with the old brick chimney at Blomorado. It needed some fixing, and in just a few minutes the stonemason was busy doing his stuff. I'm not sure how old the chimney might be, but my great grandfather started this business here 100 years ago.

Hard to imagine the 70's as being old, but time marches on.

For its age, the truck seems to be in great shape. I bet that ladder works great for plucking kittens from trees.

It's hard for me to think that 1975 is old too, but I guess it is. This truck is in great shape!

Great photos! I love the first one especially, with the man all the way out there, peering back.

Cool! I went to school in Angers where there was a big Scania factory. They would open once a year for people to tour the facility. It was very interesting to see how the trucks are built.

For some reason the truck is till here four days later! I guess they don't need it every day.

Well good for your grandfather. Are you able to grow things easily?
