The Corvette Man

The Corvette Man

The Corvette

My fourth and last portrait from the Retrorun meet. This is Per Strandberg. He was at the car meet with his wife Barbro (who snapped a photo of me), and their dog Greta, an American cocker spaniel. They have a Little Red Corvette from 1989 and drove all the way from Eskilstuna (120 km), after finding out about the event online. They have two kids and says that the car and everything around it is not a lifestyle, but a hobby. They are members of the Swedish Corvette Club. The weather was great and I sat down with Per and Barbro for a while and talked about this and that on their blanket. Later I found a video posted at Youtube it's 8 minutes long showing most of the cars at the meet. If you look closely Per is the guy that waves to the camera.

While I think Corvettes are beautiful cars, I've never really desired one...they're too hard to get in and out of and they are a very expensive piece of plastic to insure!

Nice portrait, though!

I think Per is my favorite portrait in this series. And I love those red corvettes! But where is the picture Per's wife snapped of you?

The portrait is good, the car is bright red as it has to be, and stunning. I'm curious too about your portrait...

I did see a Corvette from 1959. Perhaps I will make a collage of the coolest car I saw at the show and post it here tomorrow.

I'm the weird looking guy to the right on this photo.

My neighbor used to sell older Corvettes. His biggest customer was from Sweden. I bet some of those were his cars. Small world.

I really like the car. And I also like the people who are passionate about cars, I think they have a lot to tell.

Well, for an expensive car, there are many things to consider even of you have the money to buy it. How much will it cost to register, to insure it, and especially, how much will the oil price will become a problem in the future?
