Fredrika Bremer Tombstone

Fredrika Bremer Tombstone

Theme day at the Daily City Photo Blog. Cemetery / Tombstone. I visited the 400 year old church in Österhaninge (with the leaning tower), and took a walk through the graveyard. The best known person who rests there is Fredrika Bremer. She was a famous writer and feminist who lived between 1801-1865. I had some problems locating her tombstone, but two angels helped me. If you are interested, I have a photo of Fredrikas summer house. More facts about Bremer here. Have a look at some of the other participants at the theme day:

That's terrific - and thanks for the link about Bremer, who I didn;t know much about. Certainly interesting.

I agree with Kate. The famous people in the cemetery I decided to show are the rich white men! I loved the angels too.

I am having trouble commenting on the cemeteries (not a favorite place), but your photo shows a particularly beautiful resting place. Thank you for providing the other links, I specially enjoyed the photos of the church and Fredrika's summer house.

The church cemetery looks like a very peaceful place. And interesting narrative for its most famous resident.

Thanks all. After primary school I spent two years in a school named after her, Fredrika Bremerskolan.

Beautiful grave against that lovely old wall. V intersting commentary. I'd not heard of this lady.

la photo donne une impression de sérénité et de tranquillité, ce que ne donne pas votre histoire

the photograph gives an impression of serenity and peace, which your history does not give

The touch of pink and green at the base added a gentle surpise to this lovely fall photo.

Very nice photo. It's good to see it is still being taken care of after all these years.

Love the two angels ... Sorry Sally, but one of my tombstones photos was of a rich white man ... But to balance things out, I posted another of two sisters.
