Business Reflection
I am a bit of a reflection freak. If I see a cool reflection somewhere I always stop and start to plan another photo shoot. On this occasion I stood on the roof of a big parking house in Handen. Here you are looking at a window at the Riksäpplet building reflecting what used to be Najaden in Handen. Now it's Haninge Business Center.

Confusing
One of the entrances to the Haninge Mall. Should be Handen Mall (Handen is the name of the area, Haninge is the Municipality). But some politician had a black out and the name changed when the new mall (roof added), was finished. The postal code was also changed, from Handen to Haninge, but a few years ago it was changed back. The commuter station was called Handen, but guess what it was changed to Haninge, and surprise surprise, last year it was changed back to it's original name. Aren't you glad I cleared all this up?

Old Church Road
This is the old church road,Stenhamravägen, that once connected Årsta Castle with Österhaninge Church. A historic landscape with the castle, the church, old farms and runestones. Not sure how old this road is, but it was probably used by the Vikings. Bigger photo.

Misty Day
Yesterday was misty. I mean really misty. Bigger photo. Never seen such a thick fog before. It lasted pretty much all day. As I took the bike up to Välsta for a photo of the old tree, visibility was down to a few meters. Veird to suddenly see a dog coming out from the mist followed by it's owner in the middle of the day!

90 Canadian Geese
Give or take a few. Bigger photo. Heading south for the winter the birds decided to stop and rest on this field in Österhaninge. Which was nice of them me thinks.

Autumn Wallpaper
Walking in nature. I spotted a flock of Canadian Geese that had landed on a field close to Kalvsvik in Österhaninge. To get there I had to walk over this field and that's where I found the Autumn Wallpaper Photo. Stay tuned, I will show you the birds tomorrow. HERE is a link to the original size if you want to use this as your desktop photo.

City Hall
Another look at City Hall in Handen. The local politicians moved in here a few months ago. It used to be known as Teliahuset before that. Normally there's a giant antennae on the roof, but as Kenny Lex (a flickr contact),threatened to climb up on it to take pictures I removed it! To access some parts of the building these days you need to fill out a form and the top floors are closed. I sent a mail to them with the idea (nicked from Kenny), to build a tower on the roof and open it for the public. From that tower you would be able to see Lake Rudan and much more. I got a quick response saying that the idea would be passed on to the people in charge.

What's your best price?
Bargaining in the mall hall in Jordbro. zoom out. Bigger photo.Jordbro has around 10 000 residents, many of them immigrants. I attended the Jordbro School for three years in the late seventies. I remember many visits to the shops in this mall. We didnt always pay...

Learning to fly
It's Saturday so I made my way op to the old tree at Välsta. There I met some of the paragliding instructors on a 4-wheeler on the path. They were still practising on the ground, so I decided to return one hour later. And by then they were flying. Looks like a fun sport.

The cat with the golden apple
This little sculpture of a cat guarding a golden apple can be seen at Örnens väg in Handen. You will find the cat at one of the entrances to a housing cooperative. At the other entrance there's a Seahorse. I will take a photo of it the next time I'm there.

Lets cut down all the trees!
Another look at the parsonage estate in Västerhaninge. Bigger photo. 100 apartments to be built here as I told you last week. The builder thinks hard and names this new area Prästallen, Vicar's Avenue. Then the first thing they do is to cut down all the trees along the tree lined avenue, saving just these two in front of the Parsonage Estate. I will continue to take photos here over the next year or so, stay tuned.

A few reflections
Groovy reflection in the big window at the entrance to city hall in Handen. The reflection comes from a few buildings along Nynäsvägen. Bigger photo.
I've been tagged by Kim from Seattle Daily Photo. I get to list eight things about myself that you probably don't know, and in turn tag eight other CDPBloggers to do the same. So here we go.
1. As a teenager I accidentally started a forest fire by throwing away a cigarette but. I ran away and didnt tell my parents for a while as my dad was a member of the voluntary firefighter squad in Tungelsta.
2. I have spent a night under the stars on a Greek beach with a Greek Goddess.
3. Yesterday I sold a photo posted here some month ago for 2000SEK to be used in an ad campaign for dairy products.
4. I don't own a mobile phone. And never have.
5. When I was sixteen I won a school tournament playing Badminton. I wasn't dressed or anything, played the matches in my jeans and in the final, beat a pro player. He wasn't very happy about that. I was.
6. Suffer from a few phobias, but I will not tell you which ones.
7. Arrested by the police for bicycle theft together with two friends in Tungelsta when I was 12 years old, (young and stupid). We had stolen quite a few bikes and hid them in a garage belonging to one of my friends family. As we stole the last bike (brand new), the owner (who we knew), watched us as he called the cops.
8. I get lost easily. Everywhere. In Stockholm, in the forest, on vacation. So I have decided to buy a hand-held gps-unit and start geocaching.
I'm tagging the following eight people or blogs.
Per in Stockholm.
Gerald in Hyde.
Abraham in Brookville.
Glenn in Torun.
Neva in Inverness.
Meg in Nelson.
tog of coral gables.
Fénix in Boston.
These are the rules:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.
2. List eight (8) random facts about yourself.
3. Tag eight people at the end of your post and list their names (linking to them).
4. Let them know they’ve been tagged by leaving them a comment on their blogs.

Campus Haninge
I spent some time at a parking lot the other day. Taking photos of a building in Handen. Campus Haninge in Handen is part of the Södertörns Högskola. The students belong to either KTH School of Technology and Health or the Hotel and Restaurant School. The school houses around 400 students and opened seven years ago.

A Ziggy rune stone
Another modern rune stone from Rudsjöterrassen in Handen. I didn't know anything about these stones but a flickr contact told me that the guy who made them, Ziggy was arrested during a graffiti crackdown, and the stones he made was part of a rehab program. Sounds like a pretty good program if you ask me.

Mystery rune stone
In Handen at the Rudsjöterrassen, close to Lake Rudan you will find three modern rune stones. My flickr contact Kenny Lex translated two of them. This one says the following. Translation of the inner ring, "Try to read this runes that was writen with iron by ziggy, ..(gibberish)".
Translation of the outer ring, "never forget beautifully eyes ... (gibberish)". Obviously Ziggy is a joker. No one seems to know who he is or why he made the stones. I guess that means that this is a bit of a mystery...

Västerhaninge Parsonage Estate
This is the Parsonage Estate in Västerhaninge. For fifty years the vicar David Froste lived here. Today it's a private estate. I was there to take some photos as 100 new apartments will be built here over the next year. The young girl in the background is keeping an eye on the little dog that followed me around. It was barking like mad to scare me away...Didnt work. HERE is a big panorama I took.

Fossil by Mette Wihlborg
Here is the answer to Saturdays little guessing game. Two rectangular ponds. The pattern in the ponds emulates fossils and corals. Mette Wihlborgs art work can be seen in the Åby park in Västerhaninge. Mette Wihlborg was a student at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm and has done a lot of public art over the last 25 years. Press here to see all photos from this artwork.

Traffic Accident
The road from Tungelsta to Södertälje is popular with motorcyclists. Accidents happen very often. People get killed by driving too fast on the curvy road. Yesterday as I was sitting at my computer something happened. Within minutes the intersection at the school was filled with fire fighters, ambulances and police. Then an ambulance helicopter landed on the soccer pitch. I walked over with my camera. It was a collision between a motorcycle and a truck. I took a few photos went back home and mailed them to the papers. When that was done, I went back out in time to see the helicopter fly away with the injured motorcycle driver.

Shout in the tube
Outside the library in Västerhaninge there's four tubes like this one, forming a rectangle on the lawn. The sign says Shout! Your friend might respond. I gave it a go. Nothing happened. Probably because I was the only one there...The tubes have been here a while but the signs came up over the weekend when there was an official opening here. It was raining that day so I don't know if anyone was there shouting.

Symmetry
Hässlingby Mansion in Österhaninge. An old mansion close to the church. Fredrika Bremer had a school here way back when. You will find an ancient grave field behind the mansion. Bigger photo. Have a look at the golden rape seed fields at the mansion from one year ago.

Fredrika Bremer Tombstone
Theme day at the Daily City Photo Blog. Cemetery / Tombstone. I visited the 400 year old church in Österhaninge (with the leaning tower), and took a walk through the graveyard. The best known person who rests there is Fredrika Bremer. She was a famous writer and feminist who lived between 1801-1865. I had some problems locating her tombstone, but two angels helped me. If you are interested, I have a photo of Fredrikas summer house. More facts about Bremer here. Have a look at some of the other participants at the theme day:
