A Cool Coot

I'm going to eat that

I have been taking lots of bird photos lately. Here is a Coot, or a Sothöna as we like to call them. I shot this in the bird park where I met another nature photographer. He wasnt wery talkative, he took off when he noticed a couple of Common Teals flying in. I managed to get a photo of him running away.

Coots are remarkable-looking birds and this one reminded me of those so-called "gooney" birds out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on Wake and Midway Islands. Not really looking alike but similar in "ways" hard for me to express. I looked at your photographer friend running off to shoot the teals. I also noted his equipment and laughed at that. The lens size is lots of money so he is either making a lot of money with his photography, or he has a very devoted and "understanding" wife/partner.

Like your caption of the photo. The blue of the bird is a rich and deep colour. Looked at the photo of! the fellow-photographer. My goodness, what elaborate equipment. Am I jealous? Of course

What an interesting looking bird! I wonder though, is "coot" an insult there like it is here?

Thanks all. I wonder if he got any good photos with that long lens.

Coot is not a word used as an insult here. We use other english words for that :-)
