Campingsemester

Campingsemester
Swedish word of the day. Campingsemester. Camping holiday. They could be on their way to Lapland for all I know in the Volvo Laplander. As spotted from the pedestrian bridge that crosses Gudöbroleden a day or two ago.

The ambulance squad

The Ambulance Squad
Enjoying a well-deserved break. As seen at the Lower Lake yesterday. It must have been a very tough year for anyone working in emergency medical services. Amazing weather on Friday so I'm sure they enjoyed every second sitting on that jetty eating their lunch.

M/S Visborg

M/S Visborg
M/S Visborg arriving at the port in Nynäshamn. Usually, the ferries going between Nynäshamn and Gotland would be packed to capacity with tourists this time of the year. But not this Summer, although people are now traveling again I don't have any numbers to give you. OH, and if you want to travel from home try the Gotland website.

Lo(w)tus

Lowtus Lotus Seven
You don't have to wait long before an interesting vehicle will drive by the bridge where I sometimes shoot panning images. Snapped these two cars on Saturday before cycling on to a BBQ at Norrby.

Bulldozer&Excavator

Excavator Bulldozer
Looks like the bulldozer and the excavator are here to stay. They have been parked on the field opposite the new row houses at Lillgården in Tungelsta for quite a while now. It looks a bit like an installation I think.

Legend has it...

Legend has it... The cave
The hillside Fruberget at the Hammersta nature reserve in Nynäshamn. There's a cave here called Frubergsgrottan. It's not the easiest cave to find. You need to climb up to the top of the hill and locate the opening there. Legend has it that a rich woman from the Hammersta estate hid in the cave with her belongings when the Russians attacked the area back in 1719. Unfortunately, she had taken her rooster with her and that gave her away in the early morning hours when the rooster started crowing. The soldiers found her, brought her out, and executed her. But they didn't find her treasures so they might still be in there somewhere...

Moon Mania

Electrical substation Månen That Old Tree
The 12 km bike ride home from the BBQ at Villa Blåmes at Norrby yesterday evening took 63 minutes. That is 20 minutes longer than usual. All thanks to the moon as I stopped at four or five places along the way snapping away at the said moon. The first photo shows the electrical substation near the Nedersta farm and is my favorite of the tree moon snaps in this post. Tricky to spot the moon with the old tree, but it is there to the right.

Female cyclists

Cyclists Helen's Cycles
We have seen a few fine Summer days lately. Whenever I'm out on my bike I always have an eye open for other cyclists. I snapped the first photo at a roundabout in Västerhaninge. There were three girls, but they were a bit too quick for me so I only got two of them in the photo. I shot the second one a few days later while standing by the side of the road, along Stavsvägen in Tunelsta, shooting a photo of a sunflower.

Hammersta Oaks

Hammersta Oak Hammersta Oaks Roe Deer Spotting
A bike ride to Nynäshamn earlier in the week. As you enter the Hammersta nature reserve, before even noticing the runestone by the side of the road, your eyes are drawn to three majestic oaks out on the field. If you look closely you should be able to spot a roe deer on the third photo

Urban Runoff

Urban Runoff
The urban runoff at what used to be Dammträsk, and the Mellanberg farm in Handen. Looks a lot nicer today compared with one year ago.

Half a barn

Half a barn
A bike ride through a rural part of Österhaninge a couple of days ago. I couldn't walk up the hill at Snörom as it was a horse pasture so I continued on to Kalvsvik where there's a little cliff overlooking the fields and what not and while sitting there I noticed that something was up with the old barn.

A moment in time

A moment in time
Sunday afternoon. The local team is playing a game of (friendly), football. Suddenly there's an injured player on the pitch. It looks serious so an ambulance is called. As it happens an ambulance helicopter is in the area and it arrives just as the ambulance does. Nice to see that things are working as they should in these Corona times.

End Of The Road

End Of The Road
Time for some contemplating while waiting for the ferry at Årsta brygga. Or maybe just taking a breather like I did.

A Summer Day on the porch

A Summer Day on the porch
It was a fine Summer day, although a bit windy. The owner of the red house overlooking the upper lake at the Rudan nature reserve at Sotargränd 13 sitting on the porch reading the morning paper. The house dates back to 1927.

To Each Their Own

To Each Their Own Shiny Toy ASPES Harley-Davidson Eye Contact Ready to Race Softail Slim
Statistics from one year ago says that there were 323 148 registered motorcycles in Sweden in June of 2019. One year on and I'm sure there are a few more out on the roads. Here are a few that I photographed from the pedestrian bridge at Gudöbroleden in Handen. My favorite is the first guy on his Harley.

Brf Slänten

Brf Slänten Scaffolding Articulated Corner
A new apartment building at Vegastaden. Tricky to photograph. I stood up against a fence as I took the first photo. Tried my luck with a wide-angle lens, but the distortion gave me a headache. The top photo is nine photos shot with one of my nifty fifty lenses. I snapped the third photo from the other side of the commuter station.
