Sara

Sara

I have never been any good at guessing anyone's age. When I spotted Sara from a distance in Västerhaninge, I figured her to be around sixteen years old. That probably made her happy, because in reality she is a few years younger. Come the fall she will be an eight-grader in her school in Handen. Sara is into music. She claimed with a little smile that I was probably not familiar with the bands that she was listening to. And I will have to agree with Sara, because I can't remember listening to Mindless Self Indulgence, a band that describes their music as industrial jungle pussy punk. Another band that I will have to check up on are Porcelain and the Tramps. When she's not listening to those bands, Sara will probably be busy playing on her guitar or synthesizer. So in a few years time, when she is famous for her music, remember where you heard about her first!

Meet The Vicar

Meet The Vicar

This is Sara. One of the priests in the Västerhaninge-Muskö parish. I met her at the Medieval Västerhaninge Church on Tuesday. And when I noticed her modern outfit I decided I had to take a portrait of her. Sara comes from Handen. She has a twelve year old daughter. Her hobbies include painting and playing classical music on her piano. Sara told me that she has been a priest for four years. The reason for my visit to the church was that I wanted to climb up the tower and have a look at the great view from up there. Unfortunately that wasnt possible on my visit as the man responsible for the tower was elsewhere. And that was probably for the best, as just a few minutes after I took this photo it started to rain and a thunderstorm quickly followed. And I know that the tower has been hit by lightning on at least one occasion

The Sun-Worshippers

The Sun-Worshippers

Before heading home after a lengthy bike ride in the warm weather a few days ago, I stopped at the nature park Slätmossen in Handen for my usual photo from the bridge. And from that bridge I could see these two young women sitting on a bench on the other side of the pond, so I figured one more portrait was in order. Meet Sara and Saara (Finnish spelling), good friends who live here in Handen. Both girls are students at different secondary schools. They couldn't come up with any interesting hobbies, but Saara used to play soccer until the team split, and then she gave up the sport. Sara and Saara made the most of the warm weather, because you newer know what tomorrow will bring!
