Bullfinch

Domherre
Very cold here at the moment with -12C, and even colder weather tomorrow if the meteorologist is correct, they are predicting -21C. Not good news for the birds that hang around my bird feeder. This is a Domherre, or Bullfinch. It was enjoying some seeds at the veranda yesterday when I snapped this photo with the silent zoom lens.

Oh, gorgeous. I've only ever seen a bullfinch once and the colour is amazing.

-12! Oh my! How do these sweet little creatures survive that kind of cold I wonder. It's a little beauty Steffe, he's going to need a wee birdy scarf tomorrow :)
