One hundred days of darkness

Darkness
A few years ago, I did a project called one hundred days of darkness. That was after reading about a photo project by Nils Öhman, a Swedish journalist from Stockholm. After he finished his project, he made a book about it. So I decided to give it a go this year as well. Funny story. After eating an early dinner today because of the storm, Jacob, I jumped on the bike and headed for the station here in Tungelsta, where I took this photo for my new project. Thirty seconds later, the power went out, and it became so dark that it was tricky to ride home, even with the bike light on.

Tungelstagrillen

Tungelstagrillen
First opened as a tiny kiosk operated by Pressbyrån. My friends and I drove the owner mad by stealing from there until she told our parents about it, that must have been around 1978. Years later a classmate of mine, Susanne, bought the kiosk. Within a few years, she had enough money to build a new, much larger kiosk that she named Sassagrillen. Since then there have been several different owners. It was a kebab place for a few years. Today it is called Tungelstagrillen, although the sign says Tungelsta Grill, which is not correct Swedish. Also known as Roys Grillbar & Café.

The brick church

The brick church
The modern brick Church in Tungelsta. Designed by the architect Rolf Bergh back in the early 1970s. I remember climbing up here during the construction when I was ten years old. It was fun and scary at the same time. Before the church, there was a greenhouse nursery here, and the first people to be buried at the cemetery, next to the church, were the gardener and his wife.

Super Blood Moon my ass

Super Blood Moon my ass
Well that wasn't much fun. I spent the last ninety minutes (from 4 o'clock in the morning), up on the hill here at Bergdalen in Tungelsta, in the dark, looking for that Super Blood Moon. I'm sure it was there but all I could see was clouds. So just before I walked back home i took this four-second exposure of the filling station. Back to sleep now I hope!

Lunar Eclipse at 00:06

Lunar Eclipse at 00:06

I was a bit worried earlier in the day for this photo as the sky was filled with clouds, but in the early evening the sky cleared up in time for the Lunar Eclipse. I took this shot just after midnight from Bergdalen where I live.

Bergdalen Evening View

Evening View

This is another shot from Bergdalen, the piece of land where I live in Tungelsta. The greenhouses today belong to a company called Blomorado, my neighbours. Shot from the hill where I used to climb (and fall down) as a kid. This is from my archive. I took this photo in November 2005. The greenhouses were filled with Poinsettias at the time.
