A favorite building. At Norrmalmstorg. So many fun details. Two hundred years ago this very posh square was known as Packartorget. A smelly place with many old sheds where the local fishermen had they fish repacked. A bit different today. This building was designed by the architect Johan Laurentz for the industrialist Johan August Bång. It dates back to 1890. Back then it was an apartment building. Today there are only offices here. Oh, and this is the building that gave us the Stockholm Syndrome back in 1973.

Unusual combinations....a fancified corinthian column, a rather dutch shaped facade with what looks to be three French fleur-di-lis on it, arched windows with relieving arches above. I don't know what the wrought iron balconies would be...

Yes, I remember reading about the architect and how he got inspiration whike travelling around the continent.
