Birger Jarls Bazaar

Birger Jarls basar
Birger Jarls basar. From 1884. One of the first buildings to be constructed along the then brand-new street, Birger Jarlsgatan. One of the first office buildings in Stockholm. It also housed a bazaar and several artist studios. August Strindberg had his first exhibition here. The architect was Ernst Haegglund. If he came back today for a look, chances are that he would not recognize the facade. Today owned by Hufvudstaden.

Birger Jarls basar not only witnessed the birth of Birger Jarlsgatan but also nurtured early artistic ventures, from Strindberg’s exhibition to vibrant studio life

Wonder why they thought it was a good idea to remove the little spires from the top. Seems a bad idea to me.
