The Citadel

Kastellet
I walked up to the citadel again. For a new photo, I showed you a photo of it around two years ago. Known as Kastellet in Swedish. On an island named after it, Kastellholmen. You get there by another island called Skeppsholmen. The red brick building was designed by a famous architect back in the day. Fredrik Blom. It dates back to 1848 and replaced an older citadel that was destroyed in an explosion. The Swedish flag is hoisted and lowered here every day since around 1660. Today if you see the flag there during the day it means that Sweden as a country is at peace, which we have been since 1814 btw.

Nice architecture for a ford. Let's hope that the flag will fly forever.

It's a lovely building. Great for the flag. Wish we could say the same for the rest of the world. Sadly human nature isn't it?
