Viper

Viper
A viper enjoying the Spring sunshine at the Gullringskärret nature reserve. As seen a couple of days ago while obviously out on another bike ride.

Give that one plenty of space.

I'd keep my distance from that one.

Wow, I didn't know you had venomous snakes there. How does it spend the winter?? Cuddled next to something warm? The wiki page I found didn't have much to say.

It is a handsome lad. I know that many snakes are not harmful to humans, and that they do an important job in eating insects, but I still keep a distance from them.

I would run away!

They hibernate together in holes in the ground.

Thank you Steffe. The rattlesnakes here do the same in the winter. Just that it's so much warmer here....but I knew your vipers had to make it some way!! Glad they do. Leery of them as I am. I've killed a few in my day, but they kept coming onto the porch, etc.
Hated to do it.
