Alviks Torn

Alviks Torn Alviks Torn
I am going to show you a few images from Stockholm in the coming days or weeks. This is a building called Alviks Torn. An 18-story apartment building at Alviks Strand in Bromma. The architect was C.F. Møller. The building was constructed in 2014. The photo was taken from a walk around Kungsholmen earlier in the week.

Sandemar

Fågeltorn Curious Cow Trädgårdsgrundet Sailboat I need more zoom power
A visit to the Sandemar nature reserve at Dalarö. The flora&fauna here can be amazing. I was here with tho of the usual suspects. We brought coffee and spent a warm hour in an around the bird tower. Spotted five White-tailed eagles and one Golden eagle and a few smaller birds as well and I realized that I need a lot more zoom power.

Imperial Crown

Imperial Crown
I was on my way to one of many BBQ evenings at Villa Blåmes in Norrby this Summer when I noticed this 1962 Imperial Crown at the Port 73 mall so I stopped for a few photos.

Titania

Titania Titania
Titania. 700 apartments at Alby in Botkyrka. As seen from my walk along Stendalspromenaden last weekend. You would have a magnificent view from up there. If you have 2 000 000 SEK to spare there are still a few available apartments here.

The military bridge

Militärbron
This is the bridge at Flottsbrokanalen, between Tullingesjön and Albysjön. The canal is four hundred meters long. The bridge was constructed by the military from Ing 1 back in 1975 and is sometimes called "Militärbron". Before the bridge was built there was a pontoon bridge here. And before that this was a part of Göta landsväg, (highway), a road that dates back to medieval days. It was the only road that connected Stockholm to the south of the country.

Boating with the Christina

Boating with the Christina Boating with the Christina Christina boating on the Christina
A wooden boat on the canal between Tullingesjön and Albysjön in Botkyrka. Built in Germany by Fr. Lürssen in Aumund Vegesack back in 1920. The material used is oak and mahogany. The owner waving to me is Bengt Larsson who bought the boat back in 2004. The renovation work took nearly a decade. The boat is today listed as a cultural relic. Bengt named the boat after his wife. Two earlier names are Möwe och Lathifa. Snapped these photos while out walking on a promenade called Stendalspromenaden a few days ago.

Gålö in Haninge. The entire island is today a nature reserve. It sees one million visitors every year. The nature is spectacular, beaches, cliffs, forests it's all there. A favorite place for sure. This is one of the beaches Gålö Havsbad.

Stegsholms Gård

Stegsholms Gård
Visited the Gålö peninsula a few days ago. Gålö is today a nature reserve, in the safe hands of the Archipelago Foundation. It attracts a lot of people. The peninsula sees around one million visitors per year, but it never really feels crowded. Made a couple of stops during this visit. One was to the Stegsholm Farm where we sat down at the cafe for a pancake lunch before taking the 2,3 long nature walk. Need I say that everything served at the cafe comes from the farm bakery, and that most ingredients comes from the dairy farm. This is the view back to the farm from where the promenade in the lush oak landscape starts.

Flash Mob

Showing off
All of a sudden this small group of people started dancing. My reaction was Flash Mob so I snapped a few photos. This happened near the Knappelskär beach at Lövhagen in Nynäshamn. Then they started singing and I realised that it was someone's birthday.

The view from the old water tower

Island Life Nynäshamn Nynäshamn Church The Paris Villa View from the tower View from the tower View from the tower View from the tower Boats on the Bay
I finally made my way up the very narrow stairs to the top of the old water tower at the Trehörningen island. The observation tower was destroyed in a fire last Summer, but is now open for the public once again. Beautifully restored I might add. Ten points for the wooden benches. Here are a few of the views that you can see from up there. Top photo shows the Bedarön island, and behind that the Mysingen bay. Third snap is of the brick church from 1930. Fourth photo sees the Paris Villa. Fifth snap is of the port, and behind it, the oil harbour. The one after that is of the new water tower. Might show you a few more views tomorrow. Summer has returned here now after all the rain. We don't have the 40C weather that you might have, but is nice enough between 20C and 25C.

Summer Time

Summer Time Soldyrkare Summer reading
And the living is easy. Three photos from the rocky beach at Knappelskär in Nynäshamn. We had an almost perfect Summer day yesterday. Around 24 C when I left home. It was a very calm day. Made a first stop at the old water tower at Trehörningen when we arrived to Nynäshamn. It was finally open again after the fire last Summer, and I will show you a few photos from the observation tower tomorrow. The plan was then to get coffee and a waffle at the Lövhagen cafe, which is a ten minute walk from the beach, but the queue was way too long for me so we headed back to Handen for a light lunch at my favorite cafe. I then spent a few hours at Villa Blåmes in Norrby where four of the usual suspects enjoyed a BBQ. And then when my designated driver of the evening figured it was time to drive me home I realised that I had lost my keys somewhere. They were nowhere to be found. Luckily for me I had left a small window on the second floor partly open, so after fetching a ladder I used some of my acrobatic skills to get myself through the window, before running down the stairs where I had to switch off the alarm within thirty seconds. My brother has a key but he is in Barcelona this week so I will probably have to buy a new lock now.

Sötnos

Sötnos
Swedish word of the day. Sötnos. Cutie. I was chatting away with a bunch of the usual suspects at the cafe a few days ago when Roffe alerted me to the fact that a really cute girl was walking by so I grabbed the camera and took a quick shot. He wasn't wrong.

That Old Tree

That Old Tree
After a BBQ at Norrby in Handen with two of the usual suspects I jumped on the bike and headed for home in the warm Summer evening. The ride took a bit longer than usual, around 50 minutes. I blame that on the cranberry liqueur we enjoyed, and the pit stop at the old tree at Välsta. Photo taken with the 60mm macro lens on the Canon 77D body which gives it a focal length of 96mm, so this is nine photos stitched together. Luckily for me it was a calm evening.

Sommaräng

Sommaräng Insect Heaven
Swedish word of the day. Sommaräng. Summer Meadow. This was a wheat field in 2018 and 2017. The year before that they had canola here. This year they left everything for the insects. A field at Nedersta Gård.

The Stockbonäs Battle

Here comes trouble... Mouthing Off The Stockbonäs Battle Viking Battle Look what I cut off!
The visit to the Viking Village at Stockbonäs ended with an epic battle. All of a sudden the village was attacked by a group of Viking warriors. The newcomers badmouthed the villagers and they answered in the same way before the fighting began. It was brutal. Just look at that last photo if you don't believe me!
