Bus depot to be
Three new apartment buildings and an underground bus depot are currently under construction at the mess that we like to call Haningeterrassen in Handen. Photo made from a somewhat tricky panorama.

Safety Respect
7C and non-stop rain. The schools are closed here this week for the Autumn break. The builders could have the Tungelsta school for themselves as they finish the roof on the old school building, but I'm guessing it's no fun working outdoors on a rainy Autumn day.

The Tower
Detail from the wood shingle roof, (which is leaning a bit), at the medieval church in Österhaninge. Nice with a decent zoom lens every now and then.

October 2018 vs. May 2013
Walked over to the old tree earlier today. On my way down the familiar path I stopped for a photo of a birch and when I came home a little later I decided to match up today's photo with an early Summer photo I took here five and a half years ago.

Dryshod or not dryshod
The usual suspects picked me up early (ish), on Sunday morning. Our goal was this stream. Vitsån at Berga in Haninge, next to the military base, Haninge garnison. We were around fifteen people, plus our guide Oliver Karlöf, not seen here. The hope was to see Havsöring, (Brown trout) mating/spawning i.e. jumping out of the water. Everyone was wearing sensible boots, not counting me of course. Hasse can't tie his shoelaces so he had a bit of a mishap. Oliver knows everything you can possibly want to know about fish, he is a fiskekonsulent, good luck googling that! He has written one or two books and the information never stopped coming, which we can blame on my buddy Hasse, (not seen here), who always have to ask a lot of questions about pretty much everything. Anywho we walked through the forest down to the stream while Oliver talked and talked. There were a few other photographers there but no one seemed to take that many photos. Which is perfectly understandable because there was no trout to be photographed. Oliver blamed that on the lack of rain and what have you. After an hour or so this guy showed up on the other side of the stream. It was someone's brother. I got the camera ready hoping he would end up in the water as he tried to cross the stream, but no such luck this time around. Twenty minutes later we gave up and headed back to the cars, but if Hasse has any say, (he has not), we will go back after the next rain fall.

Autumn Golf
I'm no golfer but that has to be one of the shorter tee shots I have ever seen. As seen at the Fors golf course in Västerhaninge earlier in the week. I had been out shooting Autumn photos when I got a flat tire, despite my new kevlar tires, so while I was waiting for my ride home I snapped away at the course. Second photo is from the golf course at Husby. That tee shot looked much better.

Red Rose and Autumn Leaf
Took a walk at the cemetery in Österhaninge. It is an interesting place for a photographer. The church dates back to medieval times and it has a leaning tower. A hundred or so photos can be seen in my flickr set.

Next to the art gallery
A fine apartment building in Österhaninge, next to the art gallery. Originally a school stood here. Built back in 1905, in use up until the mid 1980s. That building, known as Kyrkskolan was destroyed in a fire in 1993. Three years later, in 1996 this building took it's place. Today quite a few of the artists working in the nearby galley lives here.

The old road
This is the old road to Tyresta, up ahead you can see a building at the village where you today can buy a cup of coffee or visit the farm if you are so inclined. On your way to the village you will pass by the bootlegger's place which is the second photo. Ninety years ago the infamous bootlegger/Olympic footballer Algoth Niska had his headquarters at the Lillgården farm house here. He spent several years in prison, both in Sweden and Finland. In 1938 he began smuggling Jewish refugees out of Germany to Finland. He died in 1953 from a brain tumour. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algoth_Niska

Eskilsparken
Two photos from Eskilsparken in Handen. The sculpture is called Fåglarna i Handen. The birds in Handen. Made by PYE Engström. I call the second photo, old geezer on a bench. Before this area was turned into a green park it was a busy gravel pit that also housed a cement factory and a lumber yard.

Cows hard at work at Tyresta national park. Info in English about the national park can be found here. Tyresta is located just 20km from Stockholm so it is very accessible for anyone visiting the nations capital.

That Old Tree
Two cold nights was all it took. I was here earlier in the week and on that occasion the leaves on the Swedish Whitebeam were still green, but after two cold nights they have now all turned to a golden brown and soon they will all be gone.

Autumn at Husby
Husby is one of those places that I often return to with the camera. Today it is a horse farm in a rural setting near the golf course in Österhaninge. It has an interesting history. Back in the good old days, (Centuries ago), any farm named Husby was the place where local farmers had to go and pay their taxes.

Åbyplan
Out shooting with the Chinese 50mm 1.4 lens. There's a bit of a problem with the autofocus and I had to delete quite a few snaps. This is a panorama made from six photos. Photo shows my bike parked under a big tree at åbyplan in Västerhaninge.

New indoor arena, Åbyhallen, plus a new school for 500 students, Åbyskolan, are under construction at Bokstigen/Åbyplan in Västerhaninge. Second photo shows a section of the roof of the indoor arena. Both buildings will have a Moss-Sedum green roof. The builder is Fastec. You will be able to play volleyball, basketball, handball and floorball, here as well as enjoying a cup of coffee.

The Magnificent Tree
Two photos of the magnificent tree. Taken just a few days apart. The tree used to stand next to a two Century old barn at the Nödesta farm, but a lot of snow and neglect helped that barn to collapse a few cold Winters ago.

Runestone Sculpture
The unusual runestone/sculpture at Ribby Allé in Västerhaninge. It appeared mysteriously on the hill back in 2007. There are two inscriptions on the sculpture. Written in the runic alphabet. Translated to English one of them reads. Each and every one of us stands alone on the heart of the earth. A mobile phone through the body like an arrow, suddenly the batteries dies out. At the time no one knew who made it or what it all meant. Today I know the name of the the sculptor, it was made by the artist Torkel Dahlstedt.
