My Grandfathers Tree
When Harald Fredrik Jansson, my grandfather celebrated his twentieth birthday in 1922 he planted this Common Horse-chestnut in front of his home at Bergdalen in Tungelsta. His father Johan Fredrik Jansson was the first gardener to buy land in Tungelsta in 1909.

amazing, it's truly great what you have left from your grandfather. thanks for sharing the story.
nicely coloured old photos you have on flicker.
This is a great photo and explanation. It reminds me of a tree my family planted in honor of my Grandmother's 95th birthday. That was 10 years ago and Grandmother has passed on now. But every time I visit her home town I drive by and admire the tree.
this tree is wonderful especially knowing its story. Somehow its not a tree only anymore. YOur grandfathers soul is there around.
That's a very sweet story!
Thanks. It is a great idea planting trees. Glaad you like my little story. We are expecting a big storm here later today. I will post an update on this tree next week when all the leaves are gone.
