A very windy day to get married

It is very popular to get married at Stockholm City Hall. One reason is the beautiful setting. But on this day it was very problematic. At least for the wedding photographers. They were all over the place, trying to find a place to set up shop, but that was nearly impossible. Standing close to the water with the bay as a backdrop was kinda dangerous, the wind was so hard that I had trouble just walking over the courtyard. Hopefully all the couples got what they wanted, and it will obviously be a day that they will never forget. I did hear a lot of laughter from one bride as she tried her best to pose in the strong wind.

Spin to win

Win a Frozen Take Away meal by spinning the wheel. Then wait six minutes while your lunch is being prepared in the microwave oven. What can beat that? I saw this at Norrmalmstorg, and then a day later at Sveavägen, so this must be a new thing for the Summer. Yet to try it though.

Munkbrohamnen

This new "beach" is quite popular. Location is pretty good. In the old town. Next to the Metro station. You can get there from the nearby isle Riddarholmen as well as from Södermalm on the other side of the Riddarfjärden bay.

Flatenbadet

Cycling home via Flatenbadet a few days ago. Nice day for it. 23C. I had expected a few more people at the beach, though. I was on the phone with my brother in Barcelona. It was one of those rare occasions when it was warmer in Stockholm, but only with one degree Celsius. Shot this with one hand while resting on a big rock.

Please, be seated

One of my favorite motives when out with the Canon, doing street photography, is people sitting on benches. So here are a few recent examples. A girl at Norrmalmstorg, the square that gave us the term The Stockholm Syndrome back in the 1970s. Next, a nearly naked guy looking towards the Cultural Centre. And in the third snap a photo of Sergels torg, the most famous square in the city. In the fourth photo a curved bench near a water feature at Brunkebergstorg where you will find Sveriges Riksbank, a few restaurants and the entrance to the oldest mall, Gallerian. Lastly, One sock on, one sock of guy at Sergelgatan.

At the market

I go all in sometimes. Like on this day when I jumped on the bike and pedalled for 100 minutes to get to the flea market at Hötorget. I stayed for I don't know how long, and I took a lot of photos. And then I jumped back onto the bike and pedalled for home, which took another 100 minutes. I have amassed just over 700 photos from this flea market, and chanses are there will be more in the future.

That Old Tree

This is the coldest month of May for 20 years. And it's been very windy. Out riding yesterday I was wearing four layers on my upper body, although at times when walking around in Stockholm I removed one or two layers. On my way home I visited the old tree. Finally green again!

The bubbly hotel

The hotel next to the national football arena in Solna. Designed by the architects at Wingårdhs. The idea for the circular windows came from Karolina Keyzer, who today is the City Architect in Stockholm. You have probably seen it here on the blog before, but it looks like they are cleaning the facade at the moment, and that's why I took another photo.

Ten street photos

More street photos. This time from Norrmalm in Stockholm. Warm, but very windy. Rumors have it that I will get my mobile broadband back today. After three weeks. One good thing about no TV or real Internet at home is that I have spent a few more hours reading novels.

Kornhamnstorg

I parked the bike and went for a walk around Kornhamnstorg. Sure was a nice day for it. I decided to shoot street photos for a collage, so I needed 12 or 16 photos. I have done a few hundred of these collages by now. Sort of addicted to it, I guess. Lots of people out and about, including ice hockey fans and a young angler. The lone girl was waiting for her boyfriend. The many benches at the square are very popular with tired tourists who need their rest after walking through the old town alleyways. I often use them myself.

Should we lock him up?

Two security guards chatting away while standing on the Riksbron bridge that connects Norrmalm with Helgeandsholmen. I gave them a little nod before I took the photo, they gave me one back. There are many Government buildings here, including the Prime Ministers residence, and also his office. And on the other side of the bridge you will find the Parliament house, the Riksdag.

Trout Stocking

The annual trout stocking at Strömmen in Stockholm. Ten thousand trouts were released into the water. A tradition that dates back fifty years. I was there in time, but it was very crowded, so I walked around a bit while listening to the many speaches, because we can't have an event like this without a few speeches.

The newlyweds

Another visit to Stockholm City Hall for a look at the many wedding couples. It sure was a fine day for tying the knot. I walked around for ten minutes or so. I got a good portrait of this bride as I walked in, and just as I left they were posing for their wedding photos and that's when I took this photo.

PSI not CSI

Two police officers riding past Stockholm City Hall on Kungsholmen, where a half-marathon race were taking place. Sure looks like the female police officer needs more air tire pressure in her rear tire. They had stopped for a chat with two marathon race volunteers. I had planned to photograph the race, but in the end decided to wait for the real Marathon later this month.

Banana art

Banana sculpture at Odengatan. Or maybe it is a fruit sculpture. Near the Stockholm Public Library. No idea who the artist is. Usually there's a sign with all the necessary info, but I failed to find it.

Drottninggatan

I always enjoy a walk along the busiest pedestrian street in Stockholm. Drottninggatan. The Queen's Street. It was a fine day, although still a little too cold for my liking.
