Slussporten

Hello! Slussporten
This year several new restaurants will open under The Golden Bridge at Vattentorget, all part of Nya Slussen. I walked by Slussporten the other day while taking a few photos in the area. Any guests using these sofas looking out over the square with the sluice can expect to be photographed as this new square is very popular both with locals, tourists and photographers.

Sunny Window

Sunny window
A walk through the old town during Midsummer's day. This is a narrow alley close to Stortorget. I used the mirrorless Canon with the 85mm lens, so this is three photos stitched together. The tourists that walked behind me had to wait for me to finish shooting, and they looked a bit curious at me.

Swedish Candy

Swedish candy
Swedish candy went viral last year on social media. And we sure love our lösgodis. This is a candy store at Slöjdgatan.

Swedish Society for Nature Conservation

Swedish Society for Nature Conservation
Two thousand forest-associated species remain on Sweden's red-list. And you can see a few of them here, from a window at a facade on Kungsgatan, near Stureplan in Stockholm.

Trick 'r Treat

Trick 'r Treat
Walking through the old town yesterday, looking for a fitting Halloween photo. Some photoshop here, but it is my photo, so my rules! I removed a bit of advertising and cleaned up the grey wall a bit.

Window Shopping
I did a bit of window shopping at Nordiska Kompaniet at Hamngatan in Stockholm a couple of days ago.

Folket•Tillsammans•Kompis

Folket•Tillsammans•Kompis
Theme Day. Reflections in windows. My second post with photos from Götgatsbacken. Folket•Tillsammans•Kompis. That means The People. Together. Buddy. The window is the office of an ad agency. Or two agencies that have merged. Tillsammans. Och Folket. I took this photo over the weekend, while out looking for a fitting Theme Day photo. A flickr contact from Perth in Australia, who now lives in Stockholm, and that just like me photographs all over Stockholm on an almost daily basis left a comment saying that he took the same photo at roughly the same time, although he is yet to publish his version.

Window shopping

Window Shopping
I have a new photo project. Sort of. I often enter Stockholm via a street called Götgatan on Södermalm. Very busy. The northern end of it is hilly. It is known as Götgatsbacken. Filled with small shops. Boutiques. Restaurants. Pubs. Book stores. Underground station. A mall. And a lot of people. Everyone visiting Stockholm seems to end up here at least one time. This is where I have photographed the busking opera singers a few times. Anywho, a couple of days ago I decided to start documenting it more closely. This is a lamp store called MässingMäster. They also have a repair service and a few very photogenic windows.

Amaryllis

Amaryllis
A window at Yttersta tvärgränd on Södermalm in Stockholm. The shortest street in the city. Photographed a couple of days ago after my visit to the hill where I snapped the graffiti portraits. This building dates back to 1765.

Jag

Jag
Walking down a pedestrian street in central Stockholm on a gloomy January day. Sergelgatan. Lots of new shops, galleries, restaurants to check out here. I noticed the kid in the dispay window at Designtorget and stopped for a quick photo. There is a gray book in the window. Called Jag, the Swedish word for Me. A teach-yourself book that supposedly will help you find yourself.

Frosty Window

Frosty Window
I live in an old house. Built by my great-grandparents 120 years ago. Obviously, it has been renovated over the years, but there is always something that needs fixing. This was my bedroom window yesterday morning. Another -15C day.

Window Shopping

Space Butterick's House of Candy Stockholm
Julen is upon us, so I did some window shopping. Space is the world's biggest gaming center. Located in one of the high rises, known as Hötorgsskraporna in Stockholm. Opened last year. Butterick's is a classic place for many reasons. And the only place in the world where I have been caught shoplifting! Never been to the House of Candy. The window display at Åhléns looks familiar with a few classic Stockholm buildings made with LEGO, including the department store itself and City Hall just to mention one.

Facade

Facade
I always enjoy photographing facades and windows. This is a classic Stockholm building at Bastugatan/Ludviksbergsgatan on Södermalm.

Architectual Detail

Window
One of the more impressive buildings at Mariaberget is a house called Mälarborgen. It is a five-story building from 1890. Designed by the architect Gustaf Hermansson. This is a nicely deorated window, seen from the entrance at Timmermansgatan. As it is built on the hillside you get a much better view of the building from the Riddarholmen bay below, so I will try to get that photo next time I'm in the area.

The Cultural Center

The Cultural Center
Poseidon's square in Handen earlier today. A few Christmas stars in the big window informing us about the upcoming season. This is the cultural center, or kulturhuset, as we like to call it. The library is popular with students, who will spend hours there reading and researching. There is live music every now and then. And theatre. And other events. I have seen quite a few bands here over the years. Pop, northern soul, rock, reggae, both inside and outside on the big square. This is also the place where they showed my photos of the old tree on one of the thursday evening gatherings called Soppa&Surr a few years ago now.
