The climbing park

I walked up the Hammarbybacken hill again. On this day the schools had just started after the Summer break, and the hill was filled with screaming kids and their teachers trying out everything at offer here, including this climbing park.

Name that dance

Unfamiliar with these moves. Could be something from Pulp Fiction, maybe. This is the Minister for Justice, Gunnar Strömmer to the right. Not sure who his dance partner is.

Dolly Parton RIP

The guy from the LP store Vinylshop at Urvädersgränd paying his respect to Dolly Parton. Two people stopped as I took the photo. One of them hadn't heard the news and he was visibly upset.

United for the climate

Fifty thousand people, (at least), took part in the Climate Rally in Stockholm on Saturday. Greta Thunberg was there of course. As was her organisation Friday's For Future, and 279 other groups. They walked across the city to Gustav Adolfs torg. I joined them here and there in between short bike rides so that I could photograph them at different places. It took the crowd four hours to pass by Sergels torg. More photos in my Flickr album, United for the climate.

Rebellmammorna

Massive climate rally in Stockholm yesterday. They started at Vasaparken. I followed then with my camera from Sveavägen via Sergels torg to Gustav Adolfs torg. 280 different organizations took part. As many as 80 000 people out on the streets. Plus all the onlookers. Rebellmammorna XR Sverige, seen here at Sergels torg were one of those groups. Our general election takes place two weeks from now. The climate have not been discussed enough, hence this demonstration. Still going through my photos from this huge event. More photos tomorrow.

AI fail of the day

As an AI challenge I asked Gemini to identify what this photo shows. It told me that it was the Nobel building in the old town at Stortorget 18. Which it is not.

What are we waiting for?

A passenger aboard the M/S Västan at Strömkajen on Blasieholmen in Stockholm looks eager to get out on the water. It was a fine day for that sort of thing.

Herr Gårman

Herr Gårman is the unofficial pun name of the sign for a pedestrian crossing in Sweden. It translates to You Walk Here, but can also be read as Mister Walkman. No idea how it ended up in the middle of this fish restaurant at Malmskillnadsgatan.

V150 Hunter

Jägaren. A veteran ship from the 1970s that you can go for a ride with these days. Owned by Sjöhistoriska museet.

M/S Polfors

The school ship M/S Polfors at Söder Mälarstrand i Stockholm. They had to move the ship a kilometre earlier this year because the City wanted a new swimming area and a sauna there to make that part of the dock a bit more lively. A few people at the school managed to get very upset about the move. It will be a disaster! The reason being that it will take the students longer to walk from the school building to the school ship. I believe that the students are strong enough for that short walk. Oh, and just to the right you can see the accordion building at Marieberg that I have showed you here a few times.

Marieviksbadet

Three pools, four decks. Opened last Summer. Photographed from the Årsta bridge. A bit overcast on this day, so not as crowded as it can be. Nice that they moved "plåtparken" here from Tanto. Panorama from four photos, snapped with the Canon 77D, using the zoom lens. This is at Liljeholmen in Stockholm. There is a lot of construction in this area since a few years. A couple of relatively new buidings from the 1980s have been demolished. More info in English here.

Old Town Café

Just a short walk from Stortorget, the main square in the Stockholm old town, you will find this café. They don't have too much space for their guests, so the seats will fill up quickly.

The old town runestone

It is damaged, but you can read it. ᚦᚬᚱ[..]ᛅᛁᚾ ᛫ ᛅᚢᚴ ᛫ ᚠᚱᛅᚤᚴᚢᚾ ᛫ ᚦᛅᚢ[...] ᛫ ᛋᛏᛅᛁᚾ ᛫ ᛁᚠᛏᛁᛦ [...] ᛋᚢᚾ ᛋᛁᚾ It dates back 1000 years. Translated it reads Torsten and Frögunn had the stone raised after their son. It was removed from the wall and cleaned up in 1937. It was tricky to photograph on this day as a young guide who knew nothing about it told the group he was with that he knew nothing about it, and they were all standing around it.

Timothy Atkins

Tim sells his Stockholm paintings at Stortorget almost every day. His studio is close by at Kindstugatan. If you stop and look in the shop window you can see miniature versions of Tim, in his yellow shirt, climbing up and down miniature ladders with miniature paintings! My brothers' wife bought two paintings from him when she was here two years ago.
