I created a new flickr set a while back. For things I didn't expect to see, but that I had to photograph as soon as I saw them. Some are funny, some a bit unusual, some are weird, and some are just sad. So if you would like to see some unusual shots check out the slideshow.
You have to hand it to the Finns. They are a weird bunch! This is the Polar Bear Banana Truck. I noticed the truck in Handen as it was heading for a filling station near the hospital. I asked the truck driver about the banana bear. He smiled as he blamed the previous owner. The artist is Mika Jeffremoff.
At the Kalvsvik Horse Centre I noticed this sexy babe posing on a ladder at the coffee veranda. She was dressed in her swimsuit and had her nails painted red. I decided to walk over for a chat. Unfortunately she wasn't very talkative. I asked if the water wasn't a bit too cold for a swim, but she didn't feel like talking. All I could get her to say was her name. So say hello to Rut, the Swimsuit Model of the Day.
This was a bit of a surprise. My flickr friend Jim and I were on our way to the Cultural Centre in Handen on Sunday where we were going to grab a cup of coffee. As we closed in on the mall we saw this guy with his sign. Jim spotted him first and said something like what the f**k is this. I stopped the guy and quickly asked if I could take a photo and he said sure, no problem. We didn't stop and talk to him, but he said he was on his way to Stockholm and a big demonstration. When I came home I looked it up on the web and it was two different groups that were demonstrating at Sergels Torg. One against the regime in Iran, and the other against the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem. Not sure where this guy fits in!
I visited the little village Lyngsta the other day. I met a collector and a few of his neighbours. It's a bit off the beaten track. Follow a gravel road into the forest for a while and then all of a sudden you see a few houses. I arrived just minutes before the post man. There's nine mail boxes in a row at the entrance to the village. Next to them you will find this odd couple. Made by the collector. A bit odd but that's how it's supposed to be sometimes.
I came around the corner at Mulstavägen today and saw this arty cow on the lawn in a garden. Bigger photo. So I jumped off the bike and entered. The artist was sitting on his veranda so I asked if I could take some photos. He had been inspired by all the Roundabout dogs that can be seen all around Sweden these days. All gardens should have a cow like this one, It's way cooler than those scary garden gnomes!
