One hundred days of darkness

STHLM 01 Folksamhuset Brasserie X 3
November is here and with it the dark days. So I will probably take more night photos from now on. Took these yesterday as I managed to get out after the stomach problems. The first photo shows STHLM 01. A newish highrise with a sky bar, which is the rule these days. Then comes Folksamhuset. From 1960. At Skanstull, my aunt worked at that insurance company for many years. The third photo shows The Social Lounge at a hotel at Johanneshov. Lastly, the 3 Headquarters, also at Johanneshov.

Not a breakfast for champions

In my fridge
A bit of an upset stomach today, so this is all I had for breakfast. Well, almost. I did drink a mug of coffee as well, despite feeling a bit under the weather, because without coffee I am not very fun to be around! Theme Day at City Daily Photo. Breakfast.

From my recent walk in the old town. What we call a klätterväxt. Covering a part of a building facade.

Scary prices

Hungry? Trick 'r Treat
Wow, that is pricey. Burger joint in the old town, where everything is a little more expensive, because it is so easy to lure in the hungry tourists. House of Burgers at Halloween.

Frankenstein's monster

Frankenstein's monster
Arriving a bit late to the graffiti wall this time as some moron had gone over it, spraying it with yellow paint to mess up the more talented artists work. So I just lifted the camera and snapped away without thinking. And I did have a go at cleaning up the photos. But gave up on this one.

That Old Tree

That Old Tree
Been raining non-stop here for a week, or at least that is how it feels. But when I headed out for a bike ride yesterday it was dry and maybe 7C. Been a month since my last visit to the old tree so it was about time.

Tasty America in the old town. I took another walk through Gamla stan, and this was the first photo I took, near Kornhamnstorg.

Brutalism

Brutalism
Cycling home from my short visit to the Tyresta National Park recently I decided to bike home via Brandbergen where I took one, (1), photo. Of a newish apartment building close to the mall. Called Tornet. The Tower. The jury is still out whether it is cool or just ugly. I have heard both opinions, but my photography eye likes it.

Autumn at Hagaparken

Hagaparken The leaning birch Autumn colors The Pavilion Autumn Reflection Höstlöv Brunnsviken Untitled Norrtull Marina Brunnsviken
A recent visit to Hagaparken in Solna. Top photo shows the bench I always use while at the park. From it, you have a good view over Stora Pelousen, the big green lawn. It is maybe a 35 km bike ride from my home to here, so it is a good spot to rest for a while. I usually enjoy my home-made smoothie and something to eat. The rest of the photos show the Brunnsviken bay in the park that connects Solna and Stockholm. The leaning birch tree is a favorite. Shot as a panorama and then turned into a black and white photo, because why not. The fourth photo shows Gustav III's pavilion. From 1787, designed by the architect Olof Tempelman. Then as we close in on Stockholm we see a building across the bay at Frescati, followed by a look at Wenner-Gren Center, an old highrise building at Norrtull, currently undergoing a lengthy renovation. The next photo also shows Norrtull. We finish off with a nearly empty marina and a look back at the Autumn colors in the park.

Out riding my bike a while back, not really having a plan, I ended up cycling to Tyresta National Park. It was a fine Autumn day so I had to stop here and there for photos.

Fine Autumn colors at Sandsborgskyrkogården in Enskede, just across the road from Skogskyrkogården. I often bike through both cemeteries on my way to Stockholm.

The tree lined avenue at Sockenvägen in Enskede. I had just biked through the Woodland Cemetery, and was on my way to the smaller cemetery known as Sandsborgskyrkogården.

Autumn reading

Autumn reading Stora sjötullen
Nice day for a bit of reading in the Autumn sunshine at Stora sjötullen. An old building at Blockhusudden at Royal Djurgården. A place where you paid for import ot export, entering or leaving Stockholm back in the day.

Issues

Issues
Stopping for a few photos at the birch forest at Skogskyrkogården. And I was instantly reminded of doing just that back in the Summer, only to have my ebike stolen a few hours later when it was parked outside Stockholm City Hall. No such problems on this day as I continued my ride to Södermalm where I went for a photo promenade around Mariaberget. Parked the bike at Mariatorget for an hour without any problems. But when I tried to import the photos I took during that walk via Lightroom earlier today there was an issue either with the hard drive or the software so I had to copy and paste the photos into the drive. Never much fun.

The Summer House

Täcka udden The garage The boathouse at Täcka udden
Täcka Udden. The story is that Carl Gustaf Tessin held a Midsummer party here. With many prominent guests, including a few royals, and it was talked about for a long time, hence the name, Täcka, an old word, no longer in use, but it means beautiful, so it must have been quite a party. Later the property was rebuilt by a "Grosshandlare", or merchant. Today owned by the Wallenberg family. The garage in the second photo today houses the family archive. The third photo shows the boathouse with new and old buildings at Kvarnholmen in Nacka on the other side of Saltsjön.
