Macro Mania at Kapp-Ekeby

Ovanifrån Blåklocka Insect Spotting Brainy Mushroom Ängsnejlika
Out cycling near Kapp-Ekeby at Fors in Västerhaninge I noticed that the cows from the Berga agricultural college were not in the pasture and that the gate was open so I headed that way. I usually visit this place three or four times every year. Two hundred years ago there were two small farms here but they are long gone. It is a good place for a stroll with the camera at any time of the year.

Kapp-Ekeby Byväg

Back in the day, there were two farms here at Kapp-Ekeby, near Fors in Västerhaninge. Both farms are long gone. The land is today owned by the Berga Agricultural College and during the Summer the cattle from Berga roam free here. At any other time of the year, this is a very fine place for a walk.

Styvmorsviol and Svalört

Viola tricolor I have seen thee, high and low,
I took a walk at Kapp-Ekeby byväg (byväg means farm road), a couple of days ago. A rural landscape just outside Västerhaninge. There used to be two farms in this little village, one was called Sandviken, but they were abandoned back in 1877. All that remains visible today is the old road. But if you look closely you can find remains from the Iron Age here so this is a place where people lived for a very long time. On this visit I decided to look for signs of Spring and this was the result. Top photo shows a Styvmorsviol. Second snap is a Svalört. To get this close I used an extension tube and the trusted pancake lens. And I might have to go back as I lost yet another lens cap!

A Rural Walk

Rural Road

I took a walk through a cow pasture. This is the old road at Kapp Ekeby in Västerhaninge. The farm here was abandoned in 1877. These days in the summer time cattle from nearby Berga Farm can be seen chew the cud here. Modern life is only a 4-iron away,as the Fors Golf Club is the nearest neighbour here. If you follow this road you will soon be at the Berga Agricultural College.
