Should we arrest him?

Should we arrest him?
Strolling around Stureplan in Stockholm. I photographed a few shop windows, people queueing for free coffee, Christmas decorations and then the mounted police. The female officer closed here eyes when she first noticed me.

Rytteriet

Rytteriet
I got some sort of stomach bug last Friday. Followed by fever and a lot of walking between the bed and the bathroom. Never much fun. But I could watch some TV, a few series and a lot of tennis. We had a fantastic weekend, with 25C. Well, at least for the people not in bed! Still at home today. If not, I would probably have been outside the Parliament building to take a look at the opening of the Riksdag. And I am sure these two police officers from Rytteriet will be there for that. I snapped this photo of them at Nybroplan last week.

Kör För Livet

Kör För Livet
Nine traditional small horse-drawn carriages travelled from Nyköping to Haninge this week. I met up with them this afternoon near the Medieval church in Österhaninge. They were on their way to Tyresta National Park to take part in the annual "Nordsvenskens Dag", the North Swedish Horse Day. The reason for this ride, Kör För Livet was to collect money to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund. Stefan and Kate Nilsson, that breed this particular horse, lost their son to cancer a few years ago. And for those of you that understands Swedish, and want to learn more, and perhaps donate some money, read more here. As per usual, if you can't see the slide show press here to open the album at flickr.

That Old Tree

That Old Tree

Horses

Looks like the cold-spell is over for now. We had -22 C last night. On my visit to the old tree on Saturday it was a bit milder, around -11C. The people out riding here are probably from the Mulsta farm. I was hoping that they would ride past me, but they turned around just before the tree.

A Cold Winter's Day

A Cold Winter's Day

It has been very cold in Haninge lately. Yesterday we had -18C. But if you are a horse you probably want to spend a few hours outdoors, and if you can enjoy lunch at the same time that's even better. This was the scene at Gråbergsvägen in Tungelsta the other day.

Taking the Backroad

Back Road Riding

On the back road

The old farm

I took a bike ride the other day hoping to shoot a few rural scenes and as I passed the farm at Ormsta I met these two horseback riders on the old gravel road towards Husby (where they have their horses). To the left with the big smile Rikke Strøyberg (she's originally from Denmark), riding on Venice. Next to her Céline Kristiansson on Vendela. The farm buildings and the fields here are used by Rolf from the Hammarby Farm.

Remember me?

Furda

Walking past the stable and horse pasture at Mulsta the other day ago I spotted a few horses enjoying their lunch. Apparently hay was on the menu on this day, who knew horses ate that? Anyway, this is Furda. An Icelandic horse. You have met her before. Back then she had to point out that she actually was a horse. Today I think no one would mistake Furda for anything but a horse.

Winter Horses

Winter Horses

Horses in the snow at the little horse farm at Gråbergsvägen in Tungelsta. One good thing with cold winter days are that they often come with a blue sky. Like on this occasion. It was -12 Celsius as I took this photo. Kinda cold but with the sun shining and no wind it was a refreshing promenade.

Bashkir Pony's

Bashkir pony's

Zooming in on some of the Bashkir pony's at the Hammarby Farm in Haninge. I visited the farm two days ago. Last year I met the owner Rolf at another farm he runs, and he invited me to visit Hammarby to see the Bashkir horses. They are an ancient breed that originates from Bashkortostan.

Bigger photo.

Horses in the snow

Horses in the snow

These horses belong to Linda Pettersson. She has a horse show called Linda and the Ministars. Linda moved to Tungelsta as a teenager after her neighbours in Tyresö complained about the horses. When she was six months old Linda had her first heart surgery. At the age of nine she had another operation this one performed in London. In 1999 at the age of 20 Linda was voted Lucia of the year.

Spot the lion

Spot the lion

Can you see the lion? This house on Ålstavägen in Tungelsta used to look like it was haunted. Not so today. I have heard stories about the previous owner to this old house that i can not tell you about...

Skogsekeby Road 45

Skogs Ekeby

New areas are developed and houses are popping up everywhere these days. Some look really really awful, but I like this one. It's on Skogsekebyvägen. A two laned road that is used by the locals as a shortcut between Tungelsta Road and Södertälje Road. But don't tell anyone ok? There's a new area housing complex under construction not far away from here called Solsäter. I was going to post a photo from there but nothing had happend since my last visit so I give you this typical swedish home instead.

horse & foal

horse & foal

There are many horse farms in Tungelsta. This one is at Välsta. I used a zoom lens here. I was on my way up to the old oak (see my set at flickr) for a sunset 360 panorama and stopped for a few shots of the horses in the horse pasture.
